Clinical Laboratory Technologist (Experienced)
Job Responsibilities:
· Performing only those tests that are authorized by the Laboratory Director and require a degree of skill commensurate with the individual’s education, training or experience, and technical abilities.
· Following the laboratory’s procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting, and maintaining records of patient results.
· Labeling, sorting, checking specimens and organizing all information into the Laboratory Information System.
· Maintaining records which demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
· Adhering to the laboratory’s Quality Control policies and documenting all Quality Control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations, and instrument maintenance.
· Following the laboratory’s policies, including taking and documenting corrective actions, whenever test systems are not within the laboratory’s established acceptable levels of performance.
· Performing parallel studies for new lots of QC material.
· Validating new lots of reagent.
· Following safety protocols as stated by OSHA and laboratory policies. This means creating a safe environment for everybody by keeping work areas clean and ensuring none of the medical equipment becomes contaminated.
· Organizing and storing all chemical substances, fluids and compressed gasses according to safety instructions.
· Performing inventory control by receiving supplies and ensuring that the packing slips are accurate.
· Being able to identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or test result reporting and correcting the problem or notifying the appropriate supervisor.
· Documenting all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory’s established performance specifications.
· Resolving technical problems.
· Ensuring patient test results are not reported until all corrective actions have been taken and the test system is functioning properly.
· Monitors test analyses and specimen examination to ensure that acceptable levels of analytic performance are maintained.
· Fulfills certain responsibilities as delegated by the Lab Director and/or Technical Consultant.
Qualifications:
· MT or MLT certified.
· Experience with Beckman AU chemistry analyzers and Access 2
· At least 5 years of experience working in a clinical laboratory.
· Knowledge of Orchard laboratory Information System (LIS) and operating procedures is preferred.
· Ability to work alone and manage oneself.
· Calm under pressure.
Work Hours: Tuesday – Saturday 8AM to 4:30PM - Flexible
