Infection Preventionist Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
The Infection Preventionist is responsible for the effective direction, management, and operation of the infection prevention program including the education of facility staff, contracted employees and physicians.
The IP will utilize evidence-based practices such as those published by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern nursing care facilities in the State of Michigan.
· Responsible to facilitate activities to prevent healthcare-associated infections by ensuring sources of infections are isolated to limit the spread of infectious organisms.
· Reports data to government entities including NHSN, Emresourse as required by CMS and MDHHS.
· Responsible to systematically collect, analyze, and interpret health data in order to plan, implement, evaluate, and disseminate appropriate health care practices. Ie Line listing.
· Conduct infection control educational and training activities for all staff.
· Ensure adequate PPE and testing supplies is available in collaboration with maintenance director and isolation carts are stocked and ready for use.
· New staff N95 fit testing and TB testing.
· Ensure all staff/residents are offered/receive required vaccines and keep accurate records of them.
· Responsible for the development and annual review of policies and procedures related to infection prevention submitting all new or revised policies at the monthly Quality Assurance meeting.
· Responsible to ensure policies and procedures are updated on the N drive computer file.
· Responsible to monitor staff adherence to minimize or eliminate the spread of infection.
· Attend and submit a written report at the monthly Quality Assurance meetings.
· Participate in Quality Assurance Performance Improvement initiatives as well as Performance Improvement Projects.
· Develop and maintain the Antibiotic Stewardship program.
· Coordinate and collaborate with the Medical Director/IDT regularly and as needed.
· Monitor the nursing units to ensure compliance with infection control standards.
· Participate in various committees as needed.
· Participate in annual State and/or Federal Surveys.
· Performs all other duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing or the Administrator.
Restorative Nurse Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
The primary purpose of your job position is to perform restorative nursing procedures that maximize the resident’s existing abilities, to emphasize independence instead of dependence, and minimize the negative effects of disability with an attitude of realistic optimism.
· Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct restorative care services, as well as its programs and activities, in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines that govern nursing care facilities
· Meet with administration, medical and nursing staff, therapy department, as well as other related departments in planning restorative care.
· Review restorative care policies, procedures, manuals, job descriptions, etc., at least annually, and participate in making recommended changes.
· Assist the Quality Assessment & Assurance Committee in developing and implementing appropriate plans of action to correct identified deficiencies.
· Assume the authority, responsibility and accountability of directing restorative care services.
· Maintain treatment records, resident files, and progress notes as required.
· Maintain an adequate liaison with families and residents
· Perform administrative duties such as completing medical forms, reports, evaluations, studies, charting, etc., as necessary.
· Review request for restorative care.
· Select rehabilitative and therapeutic activities and exercises based on medical and social history of residents.
· Evaluate type of therapy most desirable after consulting with therapy personnel.
· Participate in the development and implementation of resident assessments (MDS) and care plans, including quarterly reviews, as they relate to restorative care.
· Educate the resident regarding procedures involved in restorative care and prepare necessary equipment.
· Demonstrate to families, residents, and staff personnel, as necessary, the procedures involved in the treatment process.
· Instruct and supervise resident during therapy.
· Modify and change the resident’s restorative care as indicated.
· Ensure that all restorative care notes are informative and descriptive of the treatment provided and of the resident’s response to the care.
