We are a Reggio inspired preschool in Alameda. Our program was thoughtfully designed to encourage curiosity, creativity and discovery. The core idea behind the Reggio approach is the concept of wonder and how that translates to the process of learning. Our educators view children as inquisitive thinkers competent of coming up with theories about the world around them. We are interested in teachers with some knowledge of the Reggio Emilia approach.
Responsibilities:
- Effectively communicate with staff and parents.
- Set educational and developmental goals for the children in your group, both as a group and individually.
- Plan & carry out appropriate daily curriculum and long term projects to further support those goals.
- Collaborating with other teachers to ensure that the school fosters an environment that is inviting and nurturing for every child
- Managing day-to-day classroom activities, including structured lessons, free play, bathroom breaks, lunch time and rest time for students
Qualifications:
- Minimum 12 ECE units required.
- At least 3 years experience working with children in a classroom setting preferred.
- Background check required, as well as proof of vaccination and TB test.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
- CPR & First Aid certification required.
Required Skills and Pre-requisites:
- Knowledge of Reggio Emilia approach;
- Excellent verbal and written skills, as well as outstanding interpersonal skills;
- Problem solving, creativity, excellent multitasking skills, and ability to thrive in a start-up environment are a must.
- Ability to plan curriculum, lead other teachers;
- Enjoy working with children, including ones with mild learning differences;
- Ability to work well in a team and in a very collegial and collaborative environment;
- Commitment to equity, inclusion and a diverse community;
- Excellent attendance and punctuality.
