Inspection of bridges and waterfront structures

Ancillary and sign structure inspections

Above water bridge inspection including routine and fracture critical bridge inspections and reporting, bridge rehabilitation design, and bridge load ratings.

Design of bridges, transportation structures, earth retention structures, and waterfront structures

The Project Engineer I contributes to the successful execution of projects by performing the following duties.
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Technical

Provides technical engineering information to Project Manager to ensure the project complies with all engineering standards, codes, specifications and design instructions.

Reviews, analyzes and provides recommendations on field and/or design issues.

Independently preforms moderately difficult engineering computations involving conventional engineering practices.

Prepares complete engineering plans or reports.

Uses computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents.

Keeps Project Manager informed of work load and any changes in project scope or additional services.

Is active in technical societies.
Project Management
-
Responsible for small to moderately difficult projects from inception to completion.
Business Development / Marketing
-
Has limited communication with clients.

Is available to attend meetings or events outside of normal working hours.
Leadership / Management
-
Directs and supervises the work of entry-level engineers, technicians, drafters and administrative staff.
Operations
-
Actively observes and acts in an appropriate manner related to safety.
WHAT YOU NEED:
-
Bachelor's degree and/or master’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited four-year university and a minimum of 4 to 5 years of bridge or ancillary structure inspection experience.

Must have passed the NHI/FHWA Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges course.

Engineer-In-Training (E.I.T) required.

Professional Engineer (P.E.) preferred.

NICET certification preferred.

Valid driver’s license
