POSITION SUMMARY
The Financial Accountant (“FA”) is a corporate finance role at the Group level of PowerGrid Services (“PGS”). A market-leading and rapidly growing Transmission and Distribution electrical services business, PGS provides services to the blue-chip utility market. The business is owned by The Sterling Group, a pre-eminent middle market private equity firm. The role reports to the Controller, PGS. The FA will be responsible for supporting all aspects of the finance accounting function, including journals, month end, integrity of financial information and enhancing processes. Ideally, the successful candidate will have strong accounting experience and demonstrate curious process driven thinking, a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, and will strive to enrich the Company Culture.
General Responsibilities
The Financial Accountant is responsible for performing accounting related duties on a professional level and works with the accounting group and other business units to support all requirements. This position has responsibilities in the following areas: Month End Close, Financial Statements, Quarterly Reporting, Journal Entries, Account Reconciliations, Accruals and Allocations.
Specific Responsibilities
· Prepare journal entries as deemed necessary.
· Perform certain month end close functions such as account reconciliations, prepayments, accruals, allocations, fixed assets and other adjustments.
· Manage Fixed Assets using Creative Solutions and QuickBooks. This includes processing additions and disposals, reconciling fixed assets list and coordinating with Fleet department.
· Maintains Lease amortization schedules and creates payments schedules for new loans and leases.
· Reviews equipment job, create equipment checks and fuel chargeout entries.
· Reviews Intercompany balances.
· Maintain, reconcile, and balance assigned accounts to the general ledger.
· Prepares workpapers and supporting documentation of reconciled accounts.
· Work with Human Resources, Payroll, Billing, Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable to track down discrepancies with any account being reconciled.
· Reviews P&L by jobs and crews
· Prepare various analysis reports at month end.
· Assists in pulling information for Audit, Insurance renewal and Tax requirements.
· Generates financial statements and management reports after month end close.
· Prioritize job duties in order to meet deadlines.
· Other Ad Hoc reports and analysis as assigned.
