Computer Science Department – Center for Inclusive Computing (CIC) Transfer Pathways Grant Project
Salary Range: $50.00/hour
Work Schedule: This is a part-time position; 10 hours/week; Non-exempt position. This position is not eligible for benefits.
Essential Functions: Under the general supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI) of the project, the incumbent will collaborate with the PI and the project team to develop data reporting needs, research and devise innovative statistical models for data analysis, communicate findings to the grantor, and keep current with technical developments.
Specific Job Duties:

Serve as lead data strategist to identify and integrate new datasets that can be leveraged through our product capabilities and work closely with the engineering team in the development of data products

Execute analytical experiments to help solve problems across various domains and industries

Identify relevant data sources and sets to mine for client business needs and collect large structured and unstructured datasets and variables

Devise and utilize algorithms and models to mine big-data stores; perform data and error analysis to improve models; clean and validate data for uniformity and accuracy

Analyze data for trends and patterns and interpret data with clear objectives in mind

Implement analytical models in production by collaborating with software developers and machine-learning engineers
Requirements/ Knowledge:

Seven or more years of experience in data science

Proficiency in data mining, mathematics, and statistical analysis

Advanced experience in pattern recognition and predictive modeling
Preferred Skills/Knowledge:

Masters’s degree (or equivalent) in computer science, statistics, applied mathematics, or related discipline

Two or more years of experiences working with faculty on sponsored projects
The the incumbent must demonstrate an interest or ability in working in a multicultural/multiethnic environment. A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the UAS.
