There is a current vacancy for a Senior Fellow with the Montgomery County Volunteer Center in the Office of Community Partnerships. The Volunteer Center strives to promote and expand meaningful community service in Montgomery County by recruiting, supporting, and connecting volunteers and nonprofits. The Senior Fellow will manage volunteer center programs and resources to support non-profits and government organizations by developing and maintaining a comprehensive volunteer management training program. The Senior Fellow will also lead the Volunteer Center’s database management and user experience efforts.
The successful candidates will serve as a core member of the Volunteer Center team and will work under the direction of the Volunteer Center Manager. The Senior Fellow will play a crucial role as the liaison between the Volunteer Center and partner organizations. They will collaborate with nonprofit and government organizations and assist in the planning and hosting of County-wide events such as MLK Day of Service and the Montgomery Serves Awards. Key responsibilities include identifying training needs, program planning and design, database management, partnership development, recruiting and managing volunteers, and integrating these efforts into the ongoing work of the Volunteer Center.
This individual may also take a leadership role in managing additional aspects of the Volunteer Center as directed by the Volunteer Center Manager. Montgomery County seeks to identify national best practices and put them to work increasing the time and talent our residents commit to helping with the major challenges facing our County. The work of the Senior Fellow will address a priority to build a more equitable and inclusive Montgomery County.
Preference will be given to those candidates with experience working with nonprofit organizations in Montgomery County, experience with volunteer management, and experience working with our communities.
The Senior Fellows program is intended for experienced and seasoned applicants in professional-level positions who want to work less than 40 hours per week and want to contribute and provide leadership for their local government using the skills and expertise developed during their professional careers. This is a 12-month temporary, part-time position with no benefits. The applicant selected for the positions will work 600 hours, or approximately 11.5 hours per week. Hours may be flexed based on programmatic needs to have more or less hours some months but will not go over the 600 maximum in the year. The pay is an hourly rate of $24.27. Senior Fellow Program Managers serve at the discretion of the County Executive and are subject to budget and fiscal constraints, continued project operational need, and may not serve beyond the term of a County Executive unless extended by action of the next serving County Executive.
