Duties & Responsibilities:
- Work in adherence to safe practices, procedures, work site or traffic laws.
- Move levers and depress pedals to maneuver equipment.
- Function in a strenuous and dangerous work environment.
- Complete work projects on time and in an effective manner.
- Grease, oil, and perform minor repairs. Fuel and service equipment as required.
- Inform and advise management or repair technician for major repairs or maintenance.
- Perform daily inspections and maintenance evaluations/checks on all equipment before and after use.
- Maintain effective working relationships with co-workers.
- Understand and perform various daily and weekly assignments from oral or written communication.
- Keep equipment and work area clean and orderly.
- Adhere to all company safety standards/policies and applicable OSHA regulations.
- Other duties may be assigned.
- Work directly with grinder operator to perform daily task associated with grinding operations.
- Helping to maintain grinding equipment along with their equipment so they can learn on the job to become an effective grinder operator
- Arrive on site before towers open to ensure site is ready
- Work late to stay ahead of debris trucks and mulch haul trucks/site prep for the following morning
- Effective problem solver/improvising skills
- Basic computer skills, able to input daily hours, electronic equipment inspection, volume scanner on grinder
Essential Qualifications:
- 3+ years’ experience operating excavator
- 3+ combined years’ experience operating a front-end loader and dozer
- Able to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
- Use equipment and materials properly.
- Consistently at work and on time.
- Ability to multitask and pay attention to surroundings and plan work site area to continue workflow. Examples keep an eye on blind side of grinder while in operation, know where to stage mulch to accommodate hauling operations (debris hauling and mulch hauling is all dependent on how we utilize site, all operations must continue) ability to coordinate with grinder operator to help maximize production while operating (push debris to grinder operator, cleaning working area while in production, keeping mulch away from belt, keeping vehicles and people away from danger zones, help be the eyes to everything surrounding the operation. Learn site layout (ensure windrows are being set up in a way they can be ground safely, away from houses, towers, debris trucks, mulch trucks) Being aware of the wind and how far the dust from grinding operations/haul out operations is traveling away from the site. The right work ethic/drive (hard to explain, need the more than average person that goes above and beyond)

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is frequently required to talk or listen. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to extreme heat and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places and extreme cold. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Pay: $17.44 - $18.67 per hour
