DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
UW Medical Center - Northwest has an outstanding opportunity for a CERTIFIED NURSING ASSISTANT in the Medical Unit. The Certified Nursing Assistant assists licensed nurses (or their designees) by performing tasks involving patient care, treatment, and maintenance of the nursing unit.
POSITION HIGHLIGHTS
Patient care consistent with nursing unit standards and procedures
Plan and schedule assigned patient care activities to maximize efficiency and quality of care
Provide functional assistance to patients including dressing, undressing, toileting, eating, bathing, oral care, and hygiene, and supports plan for nutrition and hydration
Answer patient call lights promptly and respond appropriately to patient’s needs
Patient observation, reporting, and recordkeeping related to patient care
Support nursing staff with patient plan of care
Lift, position, ambulate and transfer patients
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Direct and indirect care to patients and their families under the general supervision of the Registered Nurse
Assist patients with activities of daily living: bathing, showering, dressing, getting in and out of bed or a chair, walking, using the toilet, and eating
Maintain a safe environment of care
Patient transportation
Prepare patients for surgery
Perform non-invasive lab procedures
Transport equipment and supplies
Assist with treatments
Perform various clerical tasks
Take vital signs
REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Active licensure to practice as a Certified Nursing Assistant Certification (NAC) with Washington State (please indicate your NA-C credential number on your resume)
High School graduation and six months experience involving direct patient care or customer service in a health care setting; OR equivalent education/experience.
Valid American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider CPR card by start date.
