Manager Ground Operations –SFO
Manager Ground Operations – SFO is responsible for all aspects of the safe, cost-effective, and punctual running of SFO Airport operations. They will own and maintain all local relationships at SFO airport where Fiji Airways operates. This role will also ensure that Fiji Airways has the best possible representation and customer centricity in the SFO market, and that business is conducted in compliance with both Fiji Airways and USA regulations.
This role reports to VP Commercial Global Airports and Regional Head Ground Operations America.
Key Responsibilities
- Directs and manages the airline’s ground handling suppliers’ at SFO.
- Drives the station to deliver targeted performance outcomes in all areas of safety, compliance, cost control, ancillary revenue and operational performance.
- Ensures that the ground handling companies and airport operations comply with safety standards at all times.
- Manages costs in line with budget and deliver lower cost operational solutions and counter sales strategies with the growth of the airline.
- Identifies all new opportunities for operational improvement and/or cost savings in the nominated area of responsibility.
- Champions high performance for SFO Ground Operations and also monitors the airline network performance on a daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly bases.
- Accountable for providing analysis and recommending strategies for performance improvements and present them on daily/weekly meetings.
- Ensures employees are performance managed in line with the company’s People Policy.
- Champions service leadership and incorporates Up Your Service` principles to motivate and inspire team to achieve desired levels of service.
- Develops succession plans and development for report staff.
- Prepares annual departmental budgets and monitor and investigates cost center reports.
- Undertakes any project or study/research as directed by Executive Management.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
- Relevant tertiary qualification in a related field.
- Possess no less than 5 – 10 years’ experience in an airline operational area with strong customer service skills.
- Highly developed budget planning skills.
- Excellent negotiation skills.
- Excellent report writing skills.
- Must be innovative and have initiative and drive.
- Is on call out during weekends, public holidays and other festive periods due operational requirements.
