Responsible for the coordination of patient check-in and checkout and facilitates financial assistance in the collection of patients accounts receivable. Responsible for demographic entry, verification of benefits, engaging in detailed conversations with patients explaining scope of medical insurance benefits, and subsequent collection of patient portion of charges. May be required to work with Physicians and clinical teams to disseminate expected financial responsibility from patient.

Maintain resources for patient assistance & product replacement programs and initiates product replacement program when necessary.

Completes financial estimate for patients to include expected deductible, co-insurance, and out-of-pocket amounts for insured patients

Sets up payment plans and monitor for compliance

Research and obtain public funding/assistance for eligible candidates

Performs financial counseling and qualification of patients for state and federal assistance programs (ie, Medicaid).

Initiating Hardship on patients unable to meet the terms of STOHs new financial policy

Speaking with patients regarding financial responsibilities

Ensures the following has previously been performed,

new patient insurance coverage has been verified and benefits conveyed to patient,

demographics were entered it into accounts receivable system and benefits adequately verified

ensures proper referral is in place for scheduled visit or treatment and identifies specialty care/case management situations

Ensures under-insured and/or uninsured patients are approved by the treating physician.
High school degree or equivalent with a minimum of five years experience in insurance verification, referrals, medical collections, billing and customer service. Five years experience in medical billing software, and cash management/handling experience. Working knowledge of patient assistance programs desired and oncology exposure preferred.
