The Position
We are seeking a highly motivated and talented individual to join our North American team as a Software Test Technician. In this role you’ll be working within a reliability engineering team to validate embedded software for industrial marking and coding equipment. We have a challenging, fast paced environment where you’ll work with software developers and reliability engineers to understand requirement specifications and then implement automated tests for increased reliability of our product lines. You’ll be working hands on with our Marking and Coding equipment and required to build or develop simulated I/O in order to run tests.
Ideal candidates will have excellent communications skills, both oral and written with the desire to work as part of a team, supporting each member and making solid contributions to overall project progress. We’re looking for a positive, “can-do” attitude, an eye for continuous improvement, and the motivation to drive reliability and quality into future as well as current Markem-Imaje products.
You’ll have the opportunity to perform a wide variety of complex software or support duties in development and implementation of test, debugging or documentation of software modules, algorithms and systems, as well as build simulated I/O interfaces to implement the tests, working directly with software, hardware and reliability engineers.
Job Responsibilities:
- Reading and understanding software project requirement specifications
- Creating and executing software validation tests
- Working hands-on with Markem-Imaje coders, PC’s and development tools • Working hands-on with PLC’s and other electrical hardware
- Documenting test results
- Providing understandable feedback to development and reliability engineers
Job Requirements:
- Associates Degree in an engineering discipline or demonstrated competency in Software Development/Testing preferred
- 3 – 5 years’ experience on an engineering team in a manufacturing environment
- Electro-Mechanical Technician skills preferred
- Experience with QTest, Fitnesse/Python, Atlassian JIRA preferred
- Experience with PLC programming and interface preferred
- Experience with communication protocols: Serial Ethernet transports, TCP/IP, HTTP, REST APIs preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Able to work independently with minimal direction.
- Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook
- Software development or test experience considered a plus.
- SCRUM & AGILE experience considered a plus.
- Reliability Engineering skills considered a plus.
