How you will make a difference in this role:
As the Project Development Portfolio Manager, you will manage 10-12 professional team members who are responsible for the day-to-day oversight of project development (programming and design) from an owner’s perspective. The Project Development Portfolio Manager role will be expected to become a subject matter expert capable of developing key performance indicators and optimizing, innovating, and executing business operation processes. The role will instruct team members on internal and external policies and procedures and industry standards and best practices ensuring the expected outcomes, performance, and accountability of each team member.
This position reports to the Executive Director of Capital Projects and has a hybrid work schedule with varying days in the office, working from home, and in the field. This position has a monthly starting salary of $8,408 – $10,917 (determined by experience). Examples of Duties and Responsibilities:
- Encourage a culture of trust and accomplishment by communicating expectations, assisting team members in establishing measurable goals, providing timely feedback and training, ensuring the necessary tools are available for the team to achieve their goals, and formally and informally celebrating the achievement of goals with the team.
- Operate in alignment with the strategic vision.
- Inspire and empower the team to challenge conventional processes and to research, pilot, and implement innovative concepts that drive efficiency and improve sustainability of team resources.
- Manage change by serving as the bridge between executive direction and the envisioned change, clarifying the vision, taking ownership of the change, communicating effectively, remaining transparent, and holding yourself and team members accountable throughout the process.
- Assess resources and risk factors proactively to allow the team to perform their roles effectively and efficiently, optimizing the team's ability to successfully address unanticipated challenges.
- Enforce safe work practices and procedures, encouraging team members to identify and openly communicate unsafe or unhealthful workplace conditions or hazards without fear of retribution.
- Coach team members in the areas of leadership, professional conduct, emotional intelligence, and teamwork.
- Navigate daily issues regarding work responsibilities and team member relations.
- Implement procedures related to disciplinary actions, including prompt acknowledgment of a concern, coordination with executive staff, and maintenance of required documentation.
- Build a culture of continuous learning that develops leaders both functionally and culturally, ensuring a continuity of critical roles and team member retention.
- Lead the team in providing exceptional customer service to both internal and external customers, exercising effective listening skills, providing prompt responses, and communicating effectively.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, construction management, or related field of study
- 10 to 15 years of demonstrated competency in a related field
- Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
- Knowledge of the techniques and principles involved with the design of and the means and methods in the construction of buildings.
- A deep understanding of laws, precedents, government regulations, executive orders, department rules, and the democratic political process.
