IMMEDIATE OPENING for a Full-time or Registered Nurse (Emergency Medicine) to support the Naval Medical Center in San Diego, CA.
SPECIFIC TASKS Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Provide urgent/acute/critical care to ill or injured patients of all ages with complex medical and surgical pathologies.
- Assume the responsibilities as Charge Nurse if no other Government Service or Military registered nurses are present, or if assigned those duties by the shift supervisor or other authorized individual.
- Administer blood/blood products and critical care medications (monitor, mix, administer, titrate) with the knowledge of actions and usual dosage of commonly used drugs.
- Perform post-operative recovery and discharge within established criteria.
- Care for patients on ventilators, manage a wide range of procedures of an advanced nature and difficulty where there is high risk for infection, bodily functions, and mechanical assisted by life support equipment.
- Manages patients requiring hemodynamic monitoring: operate hemodynamic equipment safely and effectively, obtain hemodynamic variables, uses cardiac monitoring equipment.
- React with alertness and skill in any emergency situation and initiate life saving measures in the absence of a physician.
- Crosstrain and float to alternate units during staffing shortage or needs.
Qualifications:
In addition to basic Registered Nurse certification, candidate shall have:
- Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Must have three years of experience within the last four years as an Emergency Room RN.
