Overview:
Reports directly to Field Training Officer/Client Site Coordinator or Operations. Reports indirectly to clients' front line management personnel. Administers pre-hospital emergency care and other forms of related health care and education. Transports patients in emergency and non-emergency situations as required. Works as a member of an emergency medical team.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Function as a positive role model committed to achieving and maintaining outstanding customer relations with the community.
· Employs Body Substance Isolation (BSI) protocols in all exposure-potential activities and always adheres to the Exposure Control Plan and policies.
· Comply with all safety regulations and procedures including, but not limited to, protection of self and others to risk from communicable diseases.
· Maintain an up to date working knowledge of the agency’s clinical treatment guidelines, standard operating guidelines, policies, and procedures as well as an appreciation of the operations of the allied public safety agencies and the culture of the community.
· Interact on a professional level with patients, families, hospital staff, general public and other public safety agencies, providing quality customer service at all times.
· Protect and maintain the confidentiality of all information related to patient care activities and information related to internal EMS operations as required by federal [and state] law, in accordance with the general principles of professionalism as a health care provider.
· Operates the ambulance in a safe fashion, in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws governing vehicle operations. Comply with approved agency policy regarding Emergency Vehicle Operations.
· Maintains the ambulance in a state of readiness, monitoring supplies and equipment, addressing deficiencies directly or appropriately referring problems to the responsible individuals.
· Perform duties in an independent manner with a minimum of direct supervision.
· Pursues EMS / other medical training programs which positively impact Emergency Department function; with authorization, executes the projects, monitors their progress, completes them on schedule and reports to the EMS department appropriately.
· Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of the service area. Be capable of utilizing preprinted and/or map-based directions for the purpose of locating sites within the service area. Be aware of any changes in roadways or points of access.
· Interact on a professional level with co-workers and leadership.
· Ensure confidentiality in matters relating to customers and staff.
· Makes complex technical information and recommendations understandable and clear to understand with varied levels of technical knowledge.
· Influences others to act on recommendations.
· Listens effectively.
· Builds credibility with internal/external customers.
· Creates customer satisfaction by demonstrating the value of good patient care related services through professional appearance, demeanor, and conduct.
· Assists with the integration between ERM staff and client volunteers, observers and paramedics through effective guidance and communications.

· Employees are responsible for all assigned duties as ERM deems necessary to perform a job or client needs.
Working Conditions and Physical Demands:
The work environments described herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing these duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to austere conditions, outside weather conditions (sometimes severe), occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts, high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals, lead, or asbestos; human excrement, blood, urine, mucous, tissue, risk of electrical shock; explosives; risk of radiation and vibration. The noise levels in the work environment are usually moderate.

· Reports to client specific department on time and prior to the start of scheduled shifts.
· Always provide proper notification and advanced notice for tardiness or absence; independently takes corrective action to prevent recurrences.
· Always presents requests for personal or vacation time with adequate advanced notice to permit coverage.
· Demonstrates the ability to recognize, establish and deal with priorities, especially in the context of rapidly changing patient care or Departmental operation requirements.
· Strives to adjust personal schedule to accommodate changing Department needs and workload.
Privacy Practices:
· Protects privacy of all patient information in accordance with ERM and client policies, procedures, and practices, as required by federal and state laws, in accordance with the general principles of professionalism as a health care provider. Failure to comply with the ERM policies and procedures on patient privacy may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.
· Will limit access to protected health information and other patient information to the extent that is necessary to complete their assigned job functions.
· Will only share information with those who need to know specific patient information to complete their job responsibilities related to treatment, payment or other company operations.
· Will report, without threat of retaliation, any concerns regarding ERM policies and procedures on patient privacy and any observed practices in violation of that policy to the Field Service Supervisor or President of Company.
· Will actively participate in ERM privacy training and is required to communicate privacy policy information to co-workers, students, patients and others in accordance with company policy.
Qualifications:
· Possession of current EMT certification from an accredited institution or certifying body.
· Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS), including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automated external defibrillator (AED) usage.
· Hold a valid CT EMT license certification.
· Possession of a valid driver's license with a clean driving record, enabling safe and lawful operation of emergency vehicles.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with patients, colleagues, and other healthcare professionals in high-stress situations.
· Physical fitness and stamina necessary to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting and transporting patients, and working in various environmental conditions.
