Position: ReStore Associate
Reports to: ReStore Manager
Employee Status: Part-Time 24 hrs/wk
Days/Hours: Tuesday through Saturdays: 9-5 pm, hours are semi-flexible
Pay Scale: Hourly at $14/hr
The mission of Habitat for Humanity of Greater Centre County (HFHGCC) is to partner with homeowner families to build affordable, quality homes and to provide support services that promote successful home purchase and ownership. The Habitat for Humanity ReStore is HFHGCC’s discount home improvement store and donation center. The ReStore generates revenue through the sale of donated new and used building materials, furniture and appliances. Proceeds support HFHGCC’s mission.
The ReStore Associate position will help with loading and unloading customer and donor purchases and donations. Additionally this position will assist with general day-to-day retail operations, organizing inventory for the ReStore sales floor and warehouse, and assisting customers and donors.
Specific Duties:
- Interact positively with customers and donors to foster goodwill and repeat business
- Load/unload merchandise routinely from our warehouse, box truck and customer/donor vehicles
- Effectively screen donation materials for acceptance according to HFHGCC guidelines
- Assist with daily retail operations, including operating the cash register
- Assist with large item inventory restocking in a timely and efficient manner to keep sales floor full at all times
- Maintain cleanliness of the ReStore and Warehouse
- Maintain an effective working relationship with ReStore staff, volunteers, Habitat homeowners, and ReStore customers
- Answer the telephone and provide ReStore information, directions, hours, etc.
- Assist with donation pick-ups when needed
- Assist with maintaining ReStore warehouse and ReStore organization
The work schedule is flexible based on the Habitat for Humanity ReStore and personal needs. Qualified candidates will meet all of the following criteria:
Education/Professional Credentials
- High school diploma or equivalent required
Experience
- Retail experience preferred
- Knowledge of home building, general contracting, architecture, interior design preferred
Preferred Skills
- Superior customer service skills; strong organizational and communication skills
- Able to assist with supervision of volunteers with a wide range of skills and abilities
- Able to handle multiple tasks
Physical and Other Requirements
- Able to lift up to 50 to 75 pounds, perform heavy manual tasks, and be capable of performing outside duties under all weather conditions
- Work may require climbing ladders, considerable standing, bending, and lifting
- Must have a driver’s license and maintain a clean driving record
