We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Captive Insurance Staff Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the financial aspects of our captive insurance company, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and providing accurate and timely financial reporting.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

Maintain the financials for several captive insurance companies domiciled in DE, TN, NC, and MT on a monthly basis.

Enter bank transactions into Quickbooks and reconcile bank accounts on a monthly basis.

Analyze monthly investment account statements, enter investment account transactions in Quickbooks and reconcile accounts on a monthly basis.

Prepare monthly journal entries in Quickbooks.

Maintain claim funds held ledger by client.

Coordination of premium and claim reporting between external fronting carriers and third-party claim administrators.

Generate monthly financials in accordance with GAAP.

Assist with preparation of 1099s.

Assist with preparation of annual reports.

Prepare surplus calculations to determine amount of available surplus for alternative investments and dividends.

Prepare bank transaction listings

Prepare investment calculations to determine amount available to be invested.

Timely respond to audit and examination requests from auditors and regulators.

Requirements and Qualifications:

BS degree in Accounting/Finance (preferred)

2+ years accounting experience in a relevant industry (preferred)

Thorough knowledge of accounting procedures

Awareness of business trends

Familiarity with financial accounting statements

Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process

Hands-on experience with accounting software packages, such as QuickBooks

Basic MS Excel skills
