Summary:
Under moderate supervision, the Building Automation Service Specialist performs remote diagnostics, preventative maintenance, repairs, installations, and commissioning of building automation control systems. This role ensures high customer satisfaction through direct, onsite client interaction, often leading teams and mentoring others. The specialist must understand Building Control system principles and be able to learn new products and strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform remote diagnostics and repairs on control systems, including electronic and digital systems.
- Conduct system maintenance on field controllers, servers, workstations, and field hardware.
- Troubleshoot and provide solutions to complex system problems.
- Work with subcontractors and other trades to ensure proper system operation.
- Regularly communicate with customers to ensure high satisfaction.
- Provide training and documentation to customers on control system operations.
- Identify and recommend system enhancements, upgrades, and repairs.
- Collaborate with the service manager to engineer and estimate solutions.
- Report issues or changes to management immediately.
- Complete all job-required documentation on time, including timesheets, expense reports, work orders, and project status reports.
- Adhere to all safety standards and promote workplace safety awareness.
- Follow established learning paths and complete required certifications.
- Participate in a rotating on-call schedule.
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- 3+ years’ experience in the HVAC Controls Industry or similar low voltage systems
- Valid and current Driver's License
- Experience with Microsoft Suite
- Ability to travel up to 50% of the typical workweek, including air travel and overnight stays
- Ability to climb ladders and lift items up to 50 lbs
Preferred Qualifications:
- Technical School in HVAC
- Experience with Automated Logic Controls, WebCTRL, SiteBuilder, ViewBuilder, and EIKON LogicBuilder
- Third-party integration experience (BACnet, Modbus, and Lon)
- Ability to create, download, and troubleshoot complex HVAC system logic
- Knowledge of TCP/IP networks, wireless technology design, and troubleshooting
- Ability to read and understand architectural, mechanical, and electrical blueprints
- Strong background in operating and controlling mechanical equipment and their control sequences
