Employment Information
As a 911 Dispatcher / Telecommunicator at the Wright County Emergency Communications Center, you will receive and process 911 calls, including both emergency and non-emergency calls for Police, Fire, and Emergency Medical Services (EMS). This fast-paced position will require you to determine the appropriate call types and course of action based on the nature of the calls. You will receive incident reports, including emergency calls through 911, while you simultaneously enter information into the computer, and operate public safety dispatching equipment for multiple jurisdictions and agencies. You will operate equipment and coordinate all emergency and non-emergency calls coming into the 911 center for Police/Fire/EMS services. Position requires constant contact with the public in stressful situations that require the ability to remain calm, think clearly, use good judgment, and have clear, understandable speaking skills. Good judgment and the ability to multitask are a must. Must be able to work varied shifts including nights, weekends and holidays.
Essential Job Functions
Answer 911 emergency phones lines and non-emergency lines; obtain necessary information about emergencies or complaints; determines what Police, Fire or EMS agency and equipment is needed on the scene; contact Emergency responders in the field via two-way radio and relays emergency information and pertinent data. Monitor various Police, Fire and EMS radio frequencies; operate a Computer Aided Dispatch system (CAD) to maintain accurate dispatch records; transmits relevant information to field officers as requested; notifies off-duty and on-call personnel when additional manpower is needed. Maintain agency confidentially, Run inquiries as well as other law enforcement related transactions through the Missouri Uniform Law Enforcement system; Monitors severe weather bulletin; broadcasts warnings over radio channels. Perform periodic tests on radio equipment; file and maintain various communication logs and records; responsible for regular attendance and arriving to work on time.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
* Must be at least 18 years of age
* Possess a valid driver’s license
* No felony convictions
* Must have High School diploma or GED
* Must be able to work rotating shifts
* Must be able to complete and pass all requirements for the selection process
