Purpose:
Provides care for and treats patients in medical office, as directed by Physician, Advanced Clinical Provider, Registered Nurse or supervising department manager, by performing the following duties
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

Maintains patient confidentiality

Work within Paramedic scope of practice

Performs telephone triage as needed
-
Function as part of an interdisciplinary team

Taking complete, accurate messages from patients and relaying them to appropriate physician
-
Use critical thinking skills in assessing patient needs and planning appropriate follow-up/intervention
-
Documents assessment and interventions thoroughly and concisely
-
Uses computer system efficiently and accurately
-
Provides patient education
-
Performs specialty procedures as trained, as well as assisting M.D. with patients in office to include but is not limited to:
-
IV insertion and hydration therapy
-
Administer oral and IV push medications
-
Administer Breathing treatments
-
Cardiac Monitoring
-
Wound care
-
Assist with Cardiac interventions
-
Orthopedic care to include assessment and splinting
-
Take thorough and accurate intake on patients
-
Specimen Collection and processing
-
Run lab equipment for specimens and quality control
-
Use EMR to document assessment and treatments
-
Always ensure patient safety and wellbeing
-
Work within department protocols
-
work within scope of practice always
Other Duties:

As assigned by RN, Clinical Coordinator or Medical Provider
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
-
Current EMT-P Certification in good standing with NCOEMS
Preferred:
-
Associates degree
-
5+ years’ experience in the field as paramedic
ADA Physical Demands:
Rarely (Less than .5 hrs/day) Occasionally (0.6 – 2.5 hrs/day) Frequently (2.6 – 5.5 hrs/day) Continuously (5.6 – 8.0 hrs/day)
