Gluwa is looking for a founding Senior level Wireless Systems Engineer located in Central Florida on America's Space Coast, to build a decentralized satellite-to-mobile 5G internet service in West Africa, and other parts of the developing world.
Detailed Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Wireless Systems Engineer with a strong background in 5G New Radio (5G-NR), Field-Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs), and Software-Defined Radios (SDRs). The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the design, development, and implementation of wireless communication systems, with a deep technical understanding of 4G/5G technologies and hands-on experience with FPGA programming and SDR platforms. This role involves both theoretical work and practical, lab-based tasks, requiring a blend of analytical skills and hands-on expertise.

Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or wireless communications and signal processing; or comparable on-the-job experience (a degree is not required for this position)
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in wireless communications engineering, with a strong focus on 4G/5G wireless networks, FPGA development, and SDR platforms
- Deep understanding of 4G/5G wireless standards, protocols, and the 5G-NR physical layer
- Proficient in FPGA programming with Xilinx
- Experience with embedded C programming on ARM CPUs
- Hands-on experience with SDR platforms (e.g., USRP) and RF testing equipment
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop FPGA-based systems for 5G-NR applications, and/or identify and implement commercial FPGA images targeted for onboard Space Vehicle hardware
- Implement and test 5G physical layer (PHY) on FPGA and SDR platforms, ensuring compliance with 3GPP standards
- Develop and maintain embedded C code for ARM CPU-based devices for software applications complimentary to 5G-NR and Space Vehicle operations
- Setup, configure, and maintain 5G open-source core networks, including integration with existing telecommunications infrastructure
- Conduct extensive testing and validation of wireless systems in a lab environment, utilizing advanced RF and antenna testing equipment
- Stay abreast of the latest advancements in 5G technologies, FPGA development tools, and SDR platforms, continuously improving our systems and processes
