About BNY Mellon Advisor Services:
BNY Mellon Advisor Services is a unique business within BNY Mellon. Advisor Services focuses on asset allocation, portfolio construction, manager research, and alternatives within a OCIO context as well as asset management context. The business constructs and manages multi-asset, multi-manager investment strategies using both proprietary and third-party investment strategies.
In addition, the team also acts as a discretionary, or non-discretionary, provider to asset owners on a global basis across institutional, intermediary, and family office channels. The business works across all of BNY Mellon and its affiliates and subsidiaries including, but not limited to, Global Distribution, Pershing, Asset Servicing, and the various investment affiliates of BNY Mellon. Advisor Services designs and implements investment strategies that are bespoke to client needs and objectives using a myriad of asset classes, investment strategies, and overlays.
We’re seeking a future team member for the role of Alternative Investment Strategist at Senior Vice President level to join our BNY Mellon Advisors team. This role is located in NY, Boston or Pittsburgh - HYBRID
In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways:
Serves as the alternative investments contact for wealth managers, as well as institutional clients, prospects and consultants.
Provides ongoing updates about the investment philosophy, process, and performance of specific alternative investments products, across hedge funds, private equity, private credit and private real estate.
Ability to clearly articulate complex investment strategies across alternative investments
Engage with clients to provide tailored investment recommendations across the alternative investment asset classes
Stay abreast of market trends, regulatory developments and macroeconomic factors impacting alternative investments
Prepare and deliver regular reports and presentations to internal stakeholders and clients, communicating investment performance, strategy updates and market outlook
Contribute to thought leadership publications across various alternative investment topics
Support fundraising efforts for proprietary and third party alternative investment funds
To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following:
Bachelors degree required and progress towards MBA, CFA, and/or CAIA preferred
General knowledge of hedge fund and liquid alternative strategies
5-7 years of total work experience preferred
Experience in product management, operations, client management, or portfolio construction preferred
An independent thinker and self-starter who can execute product strategy and drive solution adoption and a strong communicator who can interact well with teammates, advisors, clients, and other stakeholders.

BNY Mellon assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base salary for this position is expected to be between $135,000 and $200,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNYM total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and Company-sponsored benefit programs.
This position is at-will and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, change in geographic location, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
BNY Mellon assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base salary for this position is expected to be between $108,700 and $210,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNYM total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and Company-sponsored benefit programs.
