This role will ideally be located in Jacksonville, FL with ~25% travel, however remote employment will be considered. If hired remote, travel could be up to 75%.
Oversees the procurement and life cycle management of 300 lift machines i.e., wide span cranes, ancillary support equipment, traditional lift equipment and hostlers. Selects, manages, and negotiates agreements with Maintenance and Repair suppliers for all Intermodal equipment in direct support of the Terminal Operating team using CSX Intermodal Terminals processes and procedures. Executes procurement and commissioning of all equipment. Responsible for the financials, and processes associated with all billing and collections (AP and AR). Manages and forecasts annual maintenance budget. Provides oversight of direct reports and oversight of maintenance vendors, suppliers, and vendor field representatives.
Primary Activities and Responsibilities
- Direct the life cycle management for lift and support equipment to include hostler trucks at Intermodal Terminals.
- Oversee the operation of maintenance activity comprised of direct reports, support contractors, and maintenance vendors at multiple locations.
- Lead initiatives for continuous improvement and innovation in equipment maintenance processes.
- Drive alignment with industry standards through a combination of industry benchmarking and implementation of Industry best practices.
- Provide oversight to policy development and deployment to meet Federal Railway Administration (FRA), Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements.
- Implement predictive maintenance strategies and utilize data analytics to enhance equipment reliability and performance.
- Generate requirements and develop/issue Requests for Proposal (RFP) for equipment acquisition and site repair operators. Conduct source selection, contract development, and implementation.
- Serve as a CSX representative to the Intermodal Association of North America (IANA)
- Lead teams and execute process improvement projects realizing significant cost savings or improvements in service/productivity. Develop action plans, as appropriate, to address issues and drive implementation.
- Develop and oversee the acquisition and maintenance budget to ensure all requirements are met and cost-saving improvements are implemented.
- Manage financial responsibilities of the equipment maintenance group, lift equipment, and hostlers.
- Direct supervision of 4 maintenance representatives handling tasks associated with accounts payables and receivables.
- Maintain processes and accounting practices compliant with company guidelines and goals.
- Perform miscellaneous activities and responsibilities as assigned by the manager.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 10 or more years of supervisory experience in Equipment Maintenance Management of lift/heavy equipment, budgeting, new equipment acquisition, or Intermodal Operations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Graduate Degree
- 10 or more years of supervisory experience in Equipment Maintenance Management, Engineering, or Intermodal
- 3 or more years of supervisory experience in Business, Finance, or Supply Chain Management
- Project Management Professional (PMP)
Knowledge and Skills
- Knowledge of repair processes and procedures for hostlers, cranes (lift equipment), and intermodal equipment
- Experience with and implementation of predictive maintenance strategies and data analytics
- Project management skills
- Knowledge of Contract Management and execution
- Knowledge of federal regulations and regulatory structure pertaining to the operation and maintenance of intermodal equipment
- Knowledge of Enterprise Financial systems and various accounting practices
- Strong Oral and written communication skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with senior leadership/executive audiences as well as senior leaders of partner organizations
- Ability to directly supervise support vendor activities and personnel
