We are currently seeking candidates for teaching Communication Arts online. Under the direction of the Director of UC Online and Chair of Communication Arts, this position is responsible for teaching Communication Arts courses. This position contributes to the fulfillment of the mission of the University in offering quality academic programs with Christian values to students of all backgrounds. Responsible for teaching any of the following courses:
COMM 131 Intro to Mass Media
COMM 141 Fundamentals of Advertising & PR
COMM 150 Introduction to Journalism
COMM 230 Intro to Public Speaking
COMM 242 Audience Insight
COMM 251 Multimedia Journalism
COMM 332 Small Group Communication
COMM 334 Social Media
COMM 339 Communication Law & Ethics
COMM 356 Writing for the Mass Media
COMM 403 Argument in Everyday Life
COMM 430 Professional Communication
COMM 432 Theories of Persuasion
COMM 434 Communication Theory

Collaborate with colleagues in the UC Online and Communication Arts departments and throughout the university.

Adapt and align course materials using departmental syllabus templates, required text(s), and other resources.

Provide regular and timely feedback on student work.
-
Maintain regular communication with students through virtual office hours and e-mail.
-
Maintain clear, consistent records in iLearn (Blackboard) and UC One (Banner).
-
Participate in department-wide assessments.
-
Respond to student evaluations.
-
Follow university policies and procedures.
Job Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
-
Master’s in Communications, Public Relations, or closely related field.
-
Student-focused teaching that addresses the needs of all learners, both traditional and nontraditional.
-
Ongoing professional development.
-
Strong interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills.
-
Knowledge of and interest in diverse cultures and populations.
-
Experience teaching Communications courses online.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
-
PhD in Communications or closely related field.
-
Experience in developing online courses in Communication Arts or related field.
-
Related certifications to specific coursework (e.g. Social Media).
-
Blackboard experience.
-
Experience with a variety of pedagogical and technological educational delivery methods.
