Purpose: The Plate Mounter - Production Lead is a hands-on role, part of a team of experts dedicated to providing internal and external customers with excellent support and service. In addition to daily manufacturing (plate mounting) responsibilities, this role provides proactive communication, works to resolve issues, recommends solutions within established guidelines, and works closely with management to ensure department goals and objectives are met. This role continuously represents and promotes a positive OEC image and proactively engages the team for solutions and improvements, while focusing on safety and quality as guiding principles.

Hours: Second (2nd) shift; typically Monday through Friday, from 2:00 pm - 10:30 pm
Wage: Based on related experience and skills, this role has a wage range of $25.00 (entry-level) - $34.00 per hour, plus shift differential.

Production Lead Responsibilities:
Functions as the point of contact for the plate mounting and liquid plate manufacturing within the assigned facility or shift. Communicates with all other departments for orders that are processing/in-process. Coordinates scheduling for the corrugated mounting and liquid plate production to ensure materials and people are available to perform the work; provides feedback to management regarding production capacity, personnel/personnel matters, and equipment; provides other support to production and management as required. Actively communicates and participates in safety and quality initiatives, and effectively communicates and trains staff to ensure adherence and understanding.
Production Lead duties include, but are not limited to checking jobs to support and meet production, sales, and customer service requirements; fields questions from within manufacturing, prepress and production systems; plans jobs with prepress for effective, efficient and quality output; make recommendations to management regarding staffing, time-off, and other calendar-driven events to ensure minimal disruption to production; escalates concerns or issues to management; supports all QC standards and protocols; provides proactive and on-going communication; participates in activities as an agent for change, and continually engages within the team seeking solutions, etc.
Plate Mounting Responsibilities:
1. Produce and/or adhere plate backing as needed, mount and proof plates, clean and seal plates, record billing of time and materials on each job as required.
2. Prepare and inspect mounted plates prior to shipment.
3. Adhere to all established quality and safety standards, work instructions, and standard operating procedures.
4. Perform equipment maintenance as needed or as established by the Production Supervisor.
5. Develop and increase production capacity and efficiency within the department by sharing knowledge and production methods on equipment usage.
6. Provide accurate monthly inventory counts; specify reorder items and amounts on inventory sheet at month-end.
7. Any other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
· Basic math aptitude: individual must know basic math skills and be able to read a ruler
· Solid communication skills, both verbal and written
· Ability to manage numerous tasks simultaneously; ability to manage projects within the stated timelines
· Ability to work on a PC and/or MAC; aptitude to navigate various computer systems (production system) or applications
· Demonstrates independent judgment
· High level of accuracy and attention to detail
Education and/or Experience:
High School diploma or equivalent is required; Associate degree in related field preferred or equivalent relevant experience in a prepress/printing environment. Working knowledge and background in corrugated workflow (prepress, imaging, mounting) is preferred.
Performance Standards: Employee will be reviewed on his/her ability to achieve the outcomes stated above. The employee must work safely at all times and maintain the confidentiality of all department, company, and customer information.
Equipment/Materials Used: Mounting and Liquid Plate production. Computers and other administrative equipment.
Conditions of Employment: Working lead, having mounting as a primary, leading production in terms of direction, resolution and training. Continuous standing and walking. Ability to routinely lift up to 40 pounds (and occasionally up to 70 pounds). General vision and hearing. Employment is on an at-will basis and may be terminated at any time, and for legal reason, with or without cause, either by the employee or the company.
