POSITION: LOG/GFO General Manager
DEPARTMENT: Logistics/General Freight Oahu (LOG/GFO)
REPORTS TO: Director of Operations - Oahu
FLSA: Exempt (Non-Union)
POSITION SUMMARY:
Directs and coordinates the daily operation of our Logistics and General Freight services in order to increase the Department’s productivity and maximize the Company’s profitability and potential.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Responsible for all LOG/GFO personnel, including but not limited to the following: hiring, performance reviews, corrective action, and termination of employment.
- Manage, supervise and mentor personnel daily to ensure that all the Company’s policies and procedures are in place and being adhered to, i.e., safety guidelines and personnel matters.
- Develop and administer processes to increase the department’s revenue and cost control measures that will allow the Department to achieve established goals.
- Direct Operations Manager and Supervisors on the implementation of safety education for personnel, to eliminate or at a minimum, reduce the number of accidents, injuries and incidents within the department. Conduct accident/injury/incident investigations in a timely manner.
- Promote positive departmental/company relationships and external customer service with clients, vendors and agents. Continually increase department morale by encouraging all department staff to be team players and support peers and management.
- Requires the ability to understand CBP regulations pertaining to the operation of bonded storage facilities and ensure that all personnel are following those regulations.
- Create and maintain record keeping, inventory control, and financial tracking information systems.
- Collaborate with Executives on methods to achieve strategic goals and develop projections for Company’s overall growth.
- Execute/delegate other projects and duties as assigned by Senior Management.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
· Bachelor’s in Science or Administration and 5 years of Management/Supervisory experience;
· Or 10 years of Management/Supervisory experience
Experience/Skills/Knowledge:
· Have a strong understanding of risk and safety management
· Excellent management, leadership, delegation and oral/written communication skills
· Be a team player and be able to motivate and encourage others
· Proficient in software applications:
o MS Excel, Word, Outlook, simple data entry into MS Access or SQL Databases, Google Chrome or MS Edge (Web Browser)
· Be organized, detail-oriented, and able to multi-task
· Possess strong interpersonal skills in dealing with all levels of employees, vendors and clients
o Ability to persuade and negotiate terms with staff, vendors and clients
o Ability to deal with frustrated customers to remedy concerns
· Possess excellent decision-making skills with quick responsiveness to customers
· CPR and First Aid Certified
· Valid Driver’s License
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience/Skills/Knowledge:
· 10 years in freight/transportation industry
· Have a general understanding of business practices, strategic planning, budget analysis and/or HR principles
MENTAL/PHYSICAL/COMMUNICATION REQUIREMENTS:
· Required to complete multiple priorities with time-sensitive deadlines.
· Work under minimal supervision and high-pressure environments.
· Need strong supervisory skills and be able to apply logic and reasoning to solve complex and analytical problems.
· Use sound judgment and discretion in performing work duties.
· Must understand and carry out written and oral instructions.
· Requires long periods of sitting at a desk, speaking with various individuals, frequent use of computers and other clerical equipment.
· Must provide own automobile for time-sensitive off-site business meetings with clients, etc.
· May be required to assist with company-wide activities associated with the Company’s community service initiatives.
· Requires lifting 25 lbs, bending, climbing in and out of operating equipment.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Indoors, air-conditioned office and outdoor locations, i.e., loading dock, shipyard area
- Travel between Oahu locations as needed.
NORMAL WORK HOURS:
- Monday – Friday, 6:30a.m. – 5:00p.m.
- May require working overtime, on the weekends and holidays per direction of Director of Operations.
GUIDELINES:
- Follows and adheres to all internal policies and procedures, House and Safety Rules, and any employee guidelines if applicable.
- Execute goals and direction provided by Executive Vice-President.

Pay: $75,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
