The role
Media.com is seeking a Head of Trust and Safety (T&S) to lead the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and practices that ensure the safety and security of Media.com’s users.
We are looking for an experienced leader to drive the mission, vision and overall strategy for T&S. You will play an integral role in defining how we keep our users safe as they use our platform.
In this role, you will lead and grow content moderation, government relations, policy, T&S compliance and information security teams focused on user safety, bad actors and on partnering closely with Product and Executive Leadership.
We are looking for someone with exceptional creative and analytical skills, and a passion for solving complex and important problems related to user safety and content moderation.
We are looking for an experienced leader who brings a strong mix of leadership, operational rigor and business acumen to help establish the vision and drive the execution of Media.com’s T&S operations.
Key responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
- be responsible for global T&S operations and user safety
- drive the vision and strategy for Media.com’s T&S team
- advocate and build awareness for T&S across the business
- define measurements and metrics for T&S impact and performance
- lead cross functional global strategic projects to ensure continued operational improvement
- act as a global escalation point for emergency safety-related cases and provide suitable follow-up root cause and corrective action plans
- build a team who will support a rapidly growing business, by innovating in the T&S space
- work with global operations and support teams to ensure that the company has an innovative and differentiated approach and processes for recruitment, employee engagement, training, and operational management.
- coach, manage, and build a team of high-performing T&S leaders.
- clearly communicate roadmaps, priorities, experiments and decisions across the organization.
- conduct regular audits and assessments of Media.com’s T&S measures
- identify emerging threats and risks to Media.com’s brand and users and develop proactive strategies to address them
- anticipate risks, manage escalations and balance business needs with technical constraints
- deliver key projects within the T&S roadmap, incorporating execution, training, data assessment and presentation of results to stakeholders
- regularly identify opportunities to enhance internal processes and improve efficiency, while driving longer-term scalable automated solutions
- closely follow industry trends to help develop Media.com’s thought leadership in T&S operations
- cultivate a team culture of high-performance, engagement, and operational excellence at scale
- oversee an enforcement team that maintains global situational awareness around-the-clock in addition to preparing and mitigating risk within the operational environment for the business
- develop, integrate, and oversee culturally attuned policies, programs, and procedures
- be accountable for the assessment, acquisition, and implementation of leading technology to keep our users safe
- liaise with law enforcement, regulators, intelligence agencies and regulators at the local, state, and federal levels (as required)
Minimum requirements
- 5+ years experience in a senior Trust & Safety role
- 5+ years law enforcement, intelligence or national security experience
- 5+ years management experience
- Experience investigating cyber-enabled fraud or crime preferred.
- Tertiary (bachelor degree or higher) qualifications in cybersecurity, investigations or business (or related field)
- Deep understanding of online security risks across global operating environments, and the ability to react to and manage such risks
- Prior experience interacting with national law enforcement, regulators or intelligence agencies
- Track record of proven results in a fast paced and demanding work environment
- Experience with escalation and crisis management and ownership
- Prior experience managing multiple projects end to end
- Proven leadership capacity with the ability to attract, motivate, develop and retain talented people.
- A record of leadership through internal and external collaboration
- Experience managing a global team, including strategic planning, career development, and resource allocation
- A team mindset, with ability to build strong relationships and work collaboratively with members at all levels of the organization
- A demonstrated ability to lead at scale, pivot and adapt, prioritize, take action, and provide clear direction in the face of ambiguity
- A proven track record of identifying gaps and implementing new processes
- Demonstrated experience setting and achieving performance goals with cross-functional dependencies in a time-sensitive environment
- Exceptional communication skills, including executive communication skills, and the ability to simplify complex issues and provide proactive advice and practical solutions that can be operationalized
- Experienced in public speaking with the ability to represent Media.com as a thought leader in written format and at industry events
- The ability and willingness to travel as needed
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $140,000.00 - $270,000.00 per year
