Job Summary
As Staff Pharmacist, you will be responsible for providing day-to-day comprehensive, patient-oriented, pharmacy services in any or all areas of the pharmacy which includes processing orders, therapy review, and education to patients and other members of the direct patient care team. This position collaborates with other health care professionals to manage patients' drug therapies for effectiveness and overall safety. The Staff Pharmacist position contributes to the fulfillment of the pharmacy’s mission by collaborating to provide innovative, personalized, cost-effective pharmaceutical care in a culture dedicated to quality and safety. This position is also responsible for the oversight of pharmacy technicians and students and may serve as a preceptor, ensuring the accurate and timely delivery of pharmaceuticals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provides pharmacy consulting services with empathy to patients regarding the effective usage of medications and awareness with drug interactions
- Responsible for ensuring the proper compounding, dispensation, review, and verification of prescribed medications within regulatory guidelines, company policies and procedures
- Supports the efficient workflow of the pharmacy and assists the pharmacy manager in identifying ways to optimize pharmacy financials, inventory management and enhance patient experience
- Maintain a sterile and organized workspace to comply with standards for quality and safety. Verify prescriptions and maintain accurate records.
- Work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and improve health outcomes. Advise on medication therapies and alternatives.
- Engages patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services
- Resolves patient issues in a timely manner and answers questions to ensure a positive patient experience
- Counsels' patients and answers their questions regarding usage of medicine, side effects, interactions, contraindications, patient information privacy, generics, less expensive medicines, over-the-counter products, and refers to medical provider as needed to ensure medication is taken correctly, health needs addressed, and satisfaction with service
- Performs pharmacist tasks including compounding, drug therapy reviews, verifications, and medication management
- Reviews, interprets, and accurately dispenses prescribed medications when necessitated by workload
- Ensures the pharmacy operates in accordance with regulations, company policies and standards
- Assists pharmacy manager with establishing procedures that promotes the efficient workflow of the pharmacy including assigning roles, coordinating activities, and soliciting team member suggestions
- Responsible for the opening and closing of the pharmacy and shift change duties
- Maintains current knowledge of information technology associated with pharmacy systems including workflow, prescription fulfillment, billing, clinical documentation, training, inventory management, and point of sale registers to provide support to patients as well as pharmacy staff
- Follow-up with medical providers’ offices to clarify prescribed medications, dosages, refills, interactions, and allergies to suggest alternative medications, and answer medical provider questions
- Reinforces the direction of Pharmacy Manager in staff performance by coaching, and providing constructive feedback, monitoring customer service, and fostering team member development

Qualifications:
- Education: Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from an accredited pharmacy school
- Licensure: Current and unrestricted pharmacist license in the state of Texas
- Certification: ACPE accredited IV compounding Certification required
- Experience: Prior experience in pharmacy compounding setting is advantageous but not always required
Skills:
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Good mechanical aptitude and ability to operate production equipment
- Excellent organizational and documentation skills
- Proficient in pharmacy software and databases
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Basic knowledge of pharmaceuticals and compounding techniques
Working Conditions:
- Environment: On- Site, Monday – Friday: 10am – 6pm
- Attire: Scrubs or business casual
- Physical Requirements: Must be able to stand for extended periods, handle delicate equipment, and perform repetitive tasks with precision.
Available shifts and compensation: Available shifts all days except Sundays and Saturdays. Compensation depends on your experience.
