General Job Description: With over 100 years of providing quality, affordable housing with enriched services to the elderly, Kingsway Group is a resident-centered, mission-driven family of organizations dedicated to excellence in senior housing. We own and manage three outstanding, vibrant HUD-assisted elderly housing communities in Norwalk, Bridgeport, and Stamford, Connecticut.
Specific Job Description: This position is being advertised to fill the role of a Resident Services Coordinator at Pilgrim Towers in Stamford, Connecticut. Pilgrim Towers is a 72-unit HUD Section 202 elderly-designated property. The Resident Services Coordinator is a position that is designed to address the unique health and wellness needs of seniors living in affordable housing. In essence, you will lay the groundwork to begin a culture of resident advocacy, emotional and social well-being, and partnerships that add value to the community. As Resident Services Coordinator, your goal is to deliver services and opportunities to residents that allow them to age safely in their homes, with purpose and meaning, for as long as possible. Your approach will blend the delivery of social service coordination, health and wellness services, case management, and building community partnerships. You will directly assist residents in coordinating care needs with their in-home healthcare providers, help residents access community-based services to provide wellness services to residents, arrange for and engage in health and wellness talks, and work with local providers to deliver on-site clinical services. You will also help residents organize and maintain volunteer coalitions that add social and emotional wellness offerings. Finally, the Resident Services Coordinator will work directly with building management to inform them of residents’ needs and concerns.
This is a part-time position of 28 hours per week and funding is contingent on an annual award from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Multifamily Housing Service Coordinator Grants Program. Hours of work are flexible and can be negotiated, and this is an in-person position.
As Resident Services Coordinator, you will possess the following competencies, characteristics, and professional background:
Core Competencies:
- Experience with advancing the social, emotional, and wellness needs of elderly residents, preferably in a housing or institutional healthcare setting.
- Familiarity with the individual health and wellness needs of each resident and being able connect them with the appropriate community-based services to help them age in place.
- Be familiar with local social service and health care infrastructure and the role these partners play in assisting senior housing residents.
- Have an understanding of case management and how to assess, implement, and monitor services delivery that meet human service objectives.
- Are willing to explore and cultivate partnerships with other service providers in the community that will have a positive impact on our residents.
Personal and Professional Characteristics:
- Compassion, patience, and a genuine understanding of the unique needs of the elderly and diverse populations. You treat those you serve with dignity and respect.
- Be a self-starter. You are creative, willing to take risks, and not afraid to propose new ideas. You have a desire to be innovative in finding novel ways to help others.
- Are willing to conceive of new programs and offerings, and follow them through to completion and implementation.
- Be willing to sell yourself, the programs you develop, and the organization’s mission to both residents and community stakeholders.
- Have a passion for customer service and developing your communication skills. You enjoy being a forward-facing member of our team.
Professional Experience:
- Minimum of one year of experience in seniors housing, affordable housing, assisted living, long-term care, municipal/state social services, or a healthcare environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, public health, health care administration, sociology or related field. Associate degrees may be considered if combined with experience.
- Be able to proficiently use computer programs to track case notes, program delivery, and service delivery to residents/clients
- Be willing to analyze basic data and statistical trends and use this information to make informed decisions about appropriate service and program delivery
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
- Willingness to embrace our mission and work in a team-focused environment
- Bilingual skills a plus, but not required
Probationary Period: Due to the nature of this position, the successful candidate will retain a probationary status of sixty (60) days. During this time either party may terminate employment without notice.

All applicants will be considered for employment without attention to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, veteran or disability status, or any other protected status under local, State of Connecticut, or Federal law.
