Set Solutions, a Trace3 company, are seeking a highly skilled Senior Systems Engineer with significant experience in Windows and Linux environments to join our dynamic team to help support a client for the next 6-12 months with possible extension. As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our critical infrastructure systems to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and security.
This role is NOT with Trace3 but with a client.
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement scalable, high-performance systems to support our company's infrastructure needs.
- Manage and maintain existing Windows and Linux servers, including troubleshooting issues, applying patches, and ensuring system security.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define system requirements and design solutions that meet business needs.
- Automate repetitive tasks and streamline system management processes using scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or Perl.
- Monitor system performance and proactively identify areas for improvement, optimizing resource utilization and enhancing system reliability.
- Implement and maintain backup and disaster recovery solutions to ensure data integrity and availability.
- Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies, evaluating their potential impact on our systems and making recommendations for adoption.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members, fostering their professional development.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Systems Engineer, with a focus on Linux systems administration.
- Proficiency in configuring and managing Windows and Linux servers (Red Hat, CentOS, Ubuntu, etc.), including installation, networking, security, and performance tuning.
- Strong scripting skills, with experience automating tasks using Bash, Python, or Perl.
- Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, KVM, Xen) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
- Familiarity with cloud computing platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP is desirable.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., RHCE, LPIC, AWS Certified SysOps Administrator) are a plus.
