NOTICE OF EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY: Principal Mechanical Engineer
Job Duties
Responsible for screening emerging technologies, demonstrating products and services in pilot projects, and transitioning findings into inventive measures for natural gas and electric utility clientele. Duties: interact with manufacturers, distributors, contractors, and users to obtain information needed for emerging technology due diligence process; lead manufacturers, contractors, and end users in execution of pilots; lead/assist in planning, design, and execution of lab and field-based emerging technology pilots, including data acquisition and analysis; develop and design mechanical solutions from concept to prototype, including evaluations under lab and field environments; resolve project level issues in a decisive and expeditious manner; become an expert resource for individual emerging technologies; develop technical understanding, grasp of the economics, and applicable market awareness for individual emerging technologies; coordinate effectively with GTI in-house contracting, purchasing, and accounting staff; and keep abreast of the latest technology to ensure the company sees available opportunities for technical and value improvements in products and services.
Minimum Requirements
Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with a thesis or comparable research publication in the field of energy, thermodynamics, or fluids. 2 years experience with instrumentation and data acquisition systems for field demonstrations and audits; analytical assessments and modeling of energy saving technologies for residential, commercial, or industrial buildings, including HVAC and heat recovery; and project management. 1 year experience in utility energy efficiency programs focused on Illinois or California, including development and execution of pilot studies and workpaper development. Experience may be gained concurrently.
