Sadie G. Mays Health & Rehab is looking for an Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to join our family. This is a full-time position located in a long-term skill setting.
Job Summary: Assists the Director of nursing in managing the licensed team members who provide health care and nursing services to residents of Sadie G Mays Health & Rehab Center on a 24-hour, 7 day per week basis. Accepts responsibility as designated by the Director of Nursing for the effective overall management of Health Services and coordination with other disciplines to provide quality care to all patients/residents. Has a shared responsibility for insuring quality care through measurable outcomes including regulatory compliance.
Essential Functions of the Job:
- Perform resident rounds daily and include correction and instruction to team members.
- Review 24- hour reports and follow up.
- Assist with staff schedules to ensure adequate nursing coverage to meet facility and state requirements.
- Assist the Director of Nursing with supervising all aspects of the provision of care per the resident’s plan of care through an interdisciplinary oriented approach.
- Complete documentation audits on new admissions and readmissions for accuracy and completion.
- Ensure weekly skin assessments/audits are performed.
- Ensures nursing interventions meet the personal, physical, and cognitive needs of each resident as well as maximizing their choice and opportunity for social interaction.
- Ensures compliance with all facility and regulatory agency standards.
- Assist with supervising direct care staff to ensure quality care is delivered.
- Assist with orientation, staff development and training.
- Assists with reviewing all transcribed physician’s orders.
- Participants with following up on Consultant Reports.
- Assumes On-Call as designated by the Director of Nursing
- Participate in nursing care as needed, to include accepting a direct care assignment.
- Complete the required audits and summaries for QA
- Provide oversight and provide support to MDS Coordinator related to updating Resident Assessment and Comprehensive Care plans as residents’ condition changes.
- As needed, assist with ordering, and maintain, supplies and equipment for healthcare in accordance with operational protocol.
- Ensure the provision of quality nursing care on a 24-hour basis in accordance with Federal, State and local standards and regulations.
- Can prioritize and handle frequent interruptions to ensure deadlines are met and follow-up is completed timely.
Education and Experience Required:
- Current State of Georgia Registered Nursing license
- Good standing with the Georgia Board of Nursing
- Required Registered Nurse degree
- Minimum of five years’ experience in geriatrics/long term care
- Minimum of two years in a DON or ADON position

- Must possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing practices.
- Must have a patient, tactful, cheerful disposition as well as be willing to handle/deal with residents, team members and visitors, government agencies and the public.
- Able to promote teamwork, maintain good working relationship with personnel and positive employee morale.
- Be able to process and make improvements based on constructive feedback from senior leadership, supervisor, peers, residents, and families, etc.
