Responsibilities:
- Provide support and guidance to individuals with mental health challenges
- Utilize personal lived experience to inspire hope and promote recovery
- Assist individuals in developing and achieving their personal goals
- Conduct individual and group counseling sessions
- Collaborate with treatment teams to develop and implement care plans
- Advocate for clients' rights and needs within the healthcare system
- Facilitate educational workshops on mental health topics
- Offer crisis intervention and de-escalation support when necessary
Requirements:
- Certification as a Peer Specialist or willingness to obtain certification
- Strong knowledge of crisis management and intervention techniques
- Understanding of mental health counseling principles and practices
- Experience in mentoring individuals with mental health challenges
- Knowledge of addiction counseling and behavioral health services
- Familiarity with motivational interviewing techniques
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment
- Empathy, compassion, and non-judgmental attitude towards others
