Overview:
Part of the Hilton portfolio, The Hilton Garden Inn Rockaway, is looking for an upbeat personality that will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful execution of events and banquets, organize and assist our upcoming catering and banquets team in providing exceptional service, creating memorable experiences and lasting connections with our guests.
Position Summary:
Must have banquet lead experience. Supervise team members in the function to ensure guest satisfaction, procedure compliance, and meeting financial goals. Supervise banquet staff with the set up, service, and break down of our functions. Always be attentive and proactive to guest and team member needs. Must be able to demonstrate effective communication through several different departments. Must be able to set up a shift schedule for banquet operations. Must be open to training new employees. Ensure all employees are working safely and without accident. Conduct weekly and/or monthly alcohol inventory. Ensure cash is handled correctly.
We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Banquet Captain to join our team. As a Banquet Captain, your duties would include:
- Supervise and coordinate banquet staff during events to ensure seamless operations
- Oversee set-up, service, and breakdown of banquet functions
- Maintain high standards of quality control, presentation, and service delivery
- Assist in training and mentoring banquet staff on service standards and procedures
- Communicate effectively with kitchen staff to ensure timely and accurate food service
- Address guest inquiries, requests, and concerns promptly and professionally
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations throughout all banquet operations
- Manage shift schedules effectively to optimize staffing levels during events
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in banquet or catering services is required
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to supervise and motivate a team
- Exceptional customer service skills with a focus on guest satisfaction
- Knowledge of kitchen management practices and food industry standards
- Experience in shift management within a hotel, restaurant, or catering environment
- Ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and work efficiently in a fast-paced setting
- Excellent communication skills to interact with guests, staff, and management effectively
- Demonstrated leadership abilities with a proactive approach to problem-solving
