Job Summary:
The Behavioral Health Specialist is a member of the Eagle View integrated health care team. Individual provides psych-social assessments, brief encounters, utilize traditional research-based therapy, create treatment plans, and crisis intervention to insured and uninsured patients in a rural health center located in Oquawka, Monmouth, and Stronghurst, Illinois.
Training and experience in evidence-based interventions are required. The candidate will work closely with the medical, dental, and substance use disorder providers at Eagle View Community Health System to deliver integrated and coordinated behavioral health. Support staff will be assigned as deemed necessary by the Executive Director and/or designee.
Scope of Work Responsibilities:
- Performs psych-social assessments, testing using evidence-based diagnostic tools for patients referred by internal, external, and self-referral sources, for example depression, anxiety, trauma, grieving, dementia and other mental health disorders in the DSMV. At times this may necessitate warm hand-off between departments.
- Provides brief and traditional behavioral health interventions for eligible patients, crisis intervention, may provide individual, family group, and couples therapy. Provides services to assist or refer out all age ranges.
- Refers patients with serious mental illness to the appropriate emergency or community services as deemed appropriate.
- May participate in management team, staff meetings, and behavioral health team meetings and any others as required by the Eagle View Executive Staff.
- May participate in chart reviews with clinic medical/dental staff and serve as a consultant to medical/dental staff on behavioral health matters.
- Works with the Clinical Director to plan and conduct in-service training, community education and orientation programs regarding behavioral health matters.
- Works with the Clinical Director to plan and participate in the annual educational seminar as well as any other community educational outreaches as deemed appropriate or needed after conferring with medical/dental directors and Executive Staff.
- Provides liaison/outreach networking with multiple area community organizations involved in behavioral health activities.
- Maintains electronic health records and reports in accordance with EVCHS policies and procedures.
Site Work Location:
Each employee has a primary work site(s) to which he/she is assigned. EVCHS, however, has multiple sites. Therefore, any employee may be asked to work at another site if the need arises. Administrative employees and contracted service providers may work from their homes, as needed or agreed upon in their contract. No employee shall be asked to perform work outside his/her job description/capabilities.
Qualifications:
- Work Experience: Prefer two-three years of practical experience in the delivery of behavioral health services but would consider a new graduate with excellent or outstanding academic achievement supported by letters of recommendation from instructors, dean and/or supervisor of completed practicum experience.
- Education: Master's degree in social work required

Work Environment: The performance of this job takes place in a health center setting. The employee will be exposed to moderate levels of noise in a moderately paced environment. There will be frequent patient or client contact over the telephone and in person. The employee will also work with other EVCHS departments to deliver optimal service and meet health center goals.
