Medical Receptionist Job Description
A fast paced, multi doctor medical clinic that provides high quality care to patients is seeking a medical receptionist. As a medical receptionist, you will be responsible for providing administrative support to ensure efficient operation of our upbeat medical office. You will support doctors, staff, and patients through a variety of tasks related to patient care management, organization and communication.
Responsibilities:
· Welcome patients in person/on the telephone, and answer or refer inquiries
· Organize and schedule appointments for patient visits and laboratory work
· Take prescription requests and follow up with additional corresponding communication related to medications
· Produce and distribute correspondence memos, letters, faxes, and forms
· Handle receivable and payable accounts and related financial records
· Protect patient rights by maintaining confidentiality of medical, personal, and financial information
· Ensure availability of treatment information by filing and retrieving patient records
· Maintain patient accounts by obtaining, recording, and updating personal and financial information
Skills:
· Preferred experience as a medical receptionist or administrative assistant
· Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work
· Social perceptiveness and service oriented
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Strong organizational and planning skills
· Experience with patient management software and QuickBooks software
· Preferred experience with Mac/Apple computers
Customer Service:
- Great patients with a warm and friendly demeanor including tone and body language.
- Check in and check out appointments. Notify medical assistants about check in with bell.
- Take and upload all patient information to charts.
A medical front office receptionist will communicate with patients, activate patient files, and move patients through a schedule of appointments determined by a licensed physician. Our front office team members are the lifeline for optimizing patient satisfaction, provider time and available rooms in the office. They are responsible for organizing and maintaining complete and accurate patient records, and communicating with patients in a manner that reflects positively on Protea Medical Center as a whole and all team members employed at the clinic.
