Qualifications
The Early Literacy Program Coordinator will assist Program Manager in the development and implementation of a regional early learning literacy hub. Literacy hub will be branded as Northeast Michigan Early Literacy Hub and will serve 11 counties. Program Coordinator will support the marketing and implementation or literacy kiosks and extend professional development opportunities related to early literacy and the early literacy Essential Practices to early childhood professionals and families as well as provide various literacy opportunities to families within the region.
Early Literacy Program Coordinator Duties and Responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities of a Early Literacy Program Coordinator can vary depending on program development and implementation. The following lists the general duties of the Early Literacy Program Coordinator:
- Support and increase collaborations with community partners with emphasis on early learning and the importance of literacy essentials.
- Facilitate parent workshops/conferences on early literacy
- Plan, coordinate and implement early literacy events
- Plan, coordinate and facilitate professional development opportunities related to early literacy and the Literacy Essentials
- Maintain ongoing connection with families through regular communication including maintaining a strong community presence
- Support the evaluation of all program activities and quality improvement activities, including data entry and basic data analysis
- Assist in the development and maintenance of materials (print, web-based and social media) to communicate programming and bring awareness to Early Literacy Learning Hub.
- Promote organization’s mission, values, and organizational policies to all stakeholders
- Conduct recruitment and outreach within 11 county regions served.
- Collaborate with Great Start Collaboratives, Early Childhood Educators, Parents, Child Care Providers, Libraries and other organizations that serve the needs of children and families

Education and Experience
Ø Bachelor degree or equivalent work experience
Ø Experience working with low-income communities preferred
Ø Strong written and oral communication skills
Ø Public speaking experience preferred
Ø Demonstrated skills in building strong relationships with diverse stakeholders and communities
Ø Cultural sensitivity
Ø Willingness to work as a team member and contribute to the team in a dynamic, positive learning environment
Ø Teaching/facilitation experience with adults and children
Ø Self-starter able to take the initiative
Ø Strong time-management and organizational skills
Ø Prior to employment, obtain criminal record background check to include ICHAT and Central Registry and drug screen
Ø Must have valid Michigan driver’s license, insurance and reliable transportation
Other Desired Qualifications Include:
Ø At least one year experience working with families
Ø Background in early literacy, education or child development

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $42,900.00 - $51,095.00 per year
