- Plans daily lessons to meet the needs of all students and assists students needing additional support. Adapts teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests.
- Establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and homework assignments. Communicates those objectives to students.
- Establishes and enforces rules of behavior and procedures for maintaining order in their classroom.
- Confers with parents or guardians, other teachers, counselors, and administrators to resolve students' behavioral and academic problems.
- Designs and implements assessments that measure progress towards academic standards and identifies gaps in learning. Uses assessment data to refine curriculum and adjust instructional practices.
- Prepares materials and classrooms for class activities and homework assignments.
- Creates a positive achievement-oriented learning environment.
- Participates in collaborative curriculum development and grade-level and/or school activities.
- Participates in ongoing professional development activities.
