The Vice President of Human Resources, AMERS for Essentra is responsible for all people-based activity within the business from both an operational and a strategic perspective, working in close collaboration with the Americas leadership team, as a trusted colleague and advisor, delivering hands on proactive, practical and commercial oriented HR leadership. From our AMERS regional office in Westchester, IL you will be responsible for translating the culture and business strategy into organizational capabilities, leading the initiatives and activities required to enable to attraction, development & retention of talent to deliver on these strategies. Additionally, a critical element is to provide appropriate challenge to existing HR thinking & practices to inform senior management decision making across the organization.
The VP of Human Resources, AMERs is responsible for leading the US HR team in the Americas region, during a period of business transformation, working directly with all members as appropriate. Reporting directly to the Chief People Officer the VP of Human Resources, AMERS will be a member of the Global HR Leadership team and play a key role in developing the People Strategy and contributing to the HR programs that support its delivery.

Accountabilities:
- Lead the development and delivery of our People Strategy, working collaboratively with the Leadership Teams, Global HR Leadership Team, to ensure everyone understands and responds to the needs of our people and continues to grow and develop as an employer of choice
- Promote and inspire high standards in leadership and in the delivery of people management, including during organizational growth and change.
- Lead, motivate and develop the US HR team to maximize employee engagement and performance. Promote, develop and embed a “one team” approach to HR in support of the delivery of a world class HR function
- Acts as a trusted advisor and counsel to the Chief Marketing Officer & President of Americas. Providing feedback and appropriate challenge to ensure the right leadership behaviors are role modelled across the region from the top down.
- Enhance our human resources function to achieve excellent service design, development, delivery and effective implementation of all workforce planning, education, training, and organizational development strategies. Ensuring HR operational effectiveness to deliver a hassle-free employee experience.
- Ensure all organizational development strategies focus upon maintaining an exceptional company culture aligned to our People Strategy and underpinned by our Global Vision and Values. Leading and championing talent, performance management and employee engagement across the Americas region;
- Provide professional human resources and organizational development advice to the Chief Marketing Officer & President of Americas and Americas Leadership Team on all workforce matters.
- Promote and develop a culture of continuous improvement and excellent HR service provision, ensuring that services, policies and procedures comply with legislation and reflect best practice. Supporting organizational changes (restructuring, mergers, acquisitions and divestments), providing appropriate solutions to the business from an HR perspective.
- Being an effective and challenging member of the Regional Leadership Team (AMLT) and Global HR leadership team participating fully in meetings and supporting the development of high performing teams in function and region;
- Responsibility for all Employee Relations and works with legal counsel on matters regarding employment litigation or potential litigation as in the EEOC charges and DOL Wage & Hour disputes;
- Lead HR services and related contracts to ensure that we achieve the highest standards of performance, compliance and accountability in our procedures, practices in the services and support we provide. Supports the local Site Compliance Officers (SCO’s) on matters of policy interpretation, etc.;
Skills and Experience:
- Multi-site manufacturing / distribution sector experience
- Market leading HR experience gained within complex organizations;
- International experience with the ability to operate effectively in a multi-cultural environment across multiple geographies;
- Track record of HR leadership experience, including managing remote overseas teams
- Strengths in strategy development and operational implementation;
- Solid knowledge of US employment law; familiarity with regulations in regional countries (Canada, Mexico, Central America and Brazil.);
- Strong evidence of developing and delivering highly pragmatic and commercially focused HR interventions which add value to bottom line business performance;
- Experience of delivering significant and effective change management within HR and throughout the business;
- A track record of managing the needs of a growing and changing business having worked closely with highly commercially focused management teams to deliver change programs and improved business performance;
- Working at a pace and able to evolve HR to new standards and capabilities;

- Bachelor’s Degree Required, MBA / HR Masters preferred
