Operations Job Description
Position: Baggage Opener
Reporting Relationship: Reports directly to Baggage Production Supervisor
Primary Function: Process inventory from our partners in an organized, thorough, and timely manner
General Responsibilities:
- Responsible for sorting through bags/boxes of product
- Differentiate between various products
- Sporting goods
- Apparel
- Electronics
- Other
- Inspect product for damages
- Perform light cleaning on electronics or hard goods before placing in bin, as needed
- Must be able to identify and maintain current load numbers on all products
- Examine and determine if clothing processed needs hanging, washed, steamed, or dry cleaned and place in/on correct buggies/carts to be sent to laundry
- Maintain current knowledge of the different styles of clothing as well as latest trends
- Willing to learn and recognize designer brands
- Insert all 2-piece garments in a garment bag and place in appropriate laundry buggy
- Discard non-sellable items in appropriate locations
- Recognize and maintain excellent quality standards
- Remove any personal identification
- Place all prescription medicine, illegal drugs, or any type of unknown powder or substances drug bin
- Must be able to keep processing time separate on each load and record on paperwork
- Meet or exceed specific production goals provided by management
- Current goal:
- Airlines: 100% - 5 units per hour / 80% - 4 units per hour
- Bus Line: 100% - 6 units per hour / 80% - 5 units per hour
- Maintain accurate inventory counts for yourself by inputting tally counts
- Promptly place all found monies in lock boxes, report any significant money finds to supervisor
- All other tasks assigned by management
Educational Requirements:
- High School diploma or Equivalent
- Basic math skills / use of a calculator
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Light to moderate lifting
- Repetitive motion
Schedule Hours:
- 40 hours week, 6:00 am – 2:30pm Mon. – Fri. with mandatory overtime as needed
- Mandatory days include Fridays preceding Memorial Day, Labor Day, Winter Event, business day before Fourth of July, and the Saturday before Thanksgiving.
- Will be required to work one holiday a year on the Retail Sales Floor
