Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Accountant to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and analyzing financial records, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, and providing accurate financial information to management. The Accountant will handle all accounting activities related to the Orchard operations. This is a hands-on position with a variety of accounting responsibilities. This position will play a pivotal role in tracking fruit bin performance and providing timely estimates to management. In addition to ensuring all transactions are recorded in the accounting system accurately and timely, this role will also help analyze the orchard results to identify and understand trends and issues. The Accountant will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer but will interact and interface with all aspects of the company.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze financial posting of transactions in the accounting software.
- Prepare and record journal entries, including reclassification and allocation entries.
- Ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
- Assist in the monthly financial close process, which includes account reconciliations, financial statement preparation, and preparing monthly reports and analyses.
- Provide insight into spending trends and opportunities for optimization.
- Maintain a high level of financial acumen and stay up-to-date with changing accounting regulations.
- Assist in preparing and tracking the financial forecast. Work with operational managers to understand any required changes or adjustments.
- Update and maintain revenue files and oversee fruit bin inventories and reconciliations.
- Develop working relationships with fruit warehouses and obtain revenue estimates, statements, and fruit performance (e.g., packouts).
- Receive all physical checks and deposit, record, and file to the correct location.
- Track all long-term debt and ensure required payments are made on time and accurately.
- Maintain and update equipment and auto listings. Review and correct personal property listings and ensure the correct tax rate is being utilized.
- Provide assistance and support to company personnel as needed. Perform ad-hoc duties and analysis as directed by management.
Skills:
- 3+ years of experience performing full-charge accounting duties
- Proficient skills in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, and in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks)
- Working knowledge of GAAP and grower accounting or fruit industry experience
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
- Ability to analyze financial data and provide actionable insights

- Knowledge of financial services, including financial planning and budgeting
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) certification is an asset

Pay: $60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
