Pay: $20-24/hr. D.O.E (Hourly- Non Exempt) M-F, 8-5 availability
Overview:
DETOUR EMPOWERS is seeking a Program Coordinator to assist with implement, and oversee programs aimed at empowering urban youth. The ideal candidate will have experience working with diverse populations and community liaisons, with a strong understanding of youth development principles, and excellent organizational and communication skills and presentation skills. This role requires a passionate and dedicated individual with a passion for teen girls and gender-expansive youth.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Program Development and Implementation
- Develop, implement and evaluate youth programs that promote empowerment, education, personal development and community engagement.
- Develop engaging, age-appropriate activities that promote personal, academic, social and emotional growth.
- Coordinate and oversee program logistics, including scheduling, resource allocation, and venue arrangements.
- Facilitate and lead youth workshops, icebreakers, group sessions and activities weekly.
Youth Mentorship and Support
- Provide mentorship and support to youth participants helping them to set and achieve personal and educational goals
- Develop and implement strategies for ongoing motivation, engagement and empowerment.
- Address and proactively resolve any issues or challenges presented by youth participants.
Participant Engagement
- Recruit and retain program participants through outreach efforts in schools, community centers, and other local organizations.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive environment for all participants.
- Maintain regular communication with participants and their families to ensure ongoing engagement and address any concerns.
Partnership and Community Outreach
- Build and maintain relationships with community partners, schools, and other stakeholders to enhance program offerings and support.
- Represent the organization at community events, meetings, and other forums to promote the program and recruit participants.
Monitoring and Evaluation
- Maintain accurate records of program activities, participants and outcomes.
- Implement evaluation tools to assess program effectiveness and participant outcomes.
- Collect and work with the team to analyze data to inform program improvements and report on progress to stakeholders.
- Prepare and submit regular reports on program activities, outcomes, and impact.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of High School Diploma or GED
- College education preferred but not required
- Experience in youth programming, preferably with urban or underserved populations.
- Reliable transportation, laptop and personal cell phone
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong understanding of youth development principles and best practices.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and inspire youth.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups and build strong community partnerships.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.
- Experience with program evaluation and data analysis.
