EMPLOYMENT SPECIALIST: BRONX/BROOKLYN
Employment Specialists will help shelter residents access support services to identify their strengths, goals, and talents in view of helping them find work or training or educational programs to help them develop their skills.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Must have (2) years workforce development or employment placement experience.
- Assess clients' education, work experience, skills, qualifications, and job interests.
- Assess clients' readiness for job referral, classroom training, OJT training, and or support services.
- Assess and determine clients' employability to match clients with available employment, training, or other opportunities and services.
- Identify problems and barriers that hinder employability.
- Resume writing and conduct/ host Employment Workshops. weekly.
- Develop Independent Living Plans (ILP) w Clients.
- Responsible for completing progress notes on a timely basis.
- Maintain and update records on client employment and training in CARES and client files.
- Assist clients in resolving and mitigating barriers to employment by identifying the need for other services and benefits.
- Make appropriate referrals internally or to other external resources.
- Act as a liaison with public and private employers to develop direct job placements for clients.
- Maintain an awareness of the local job market and opportunities to assist in providing guidance to clients.
- Arrange for employment interviews, attend job fairs.
- Conduct special EMPLOYMENT workshops, and presentations, or perform other training and outreach activities.
- Act as a liaison with the NYS Department of Labor to develop growth of employment opportunities.
- Responsible for compiling statistical and demographic reports.
- Perform other related work duties as needed or as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
- A Bachelor's degree in Social Work with experience in a program serving the homeless or similar population. -or-
- A High School diploma, or equivalent, and three (3) years experience in a residential program serving the homeless or similar population.
