JOBTITLE: Pharmacy Technician, CPhT
REPORTS TO: Pharmacist
JOBSUMMARY: The Pharmacy Technician will perform functions in compliance
with supervisory instructions and with departmental policies and procedures designed to provide optimum pharmaceutical care.
ESSENTIAL TASKS/DUTIES:

1. Retrieves copies of physicians’ orders and enters them into the pharmacy computer system.
2. Prepares medications and supplies for dispensing/transporting to nursing units and to the TCH Clinic.
3. Performs daily audits and maintains control of narcotics and other stock substances.
4. Assists in maintaining inventories and in procurement of drugs and supplies.
5. Restocks the automated delivery system (Pyxis) four to five times daily.
6. Performs audits of all medication areas for unused or expired medications and initiates disposal in compliance with hospital policy.
7. Assists in training new employees and assists other Pharmacy Technicians as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Must have a High School diploma or equivalent.
2. Must have Pharmacy Certification with National Pharmacy Technician Certification Board, and Pharmacy Registration with Texas State Board of Pharmacy.
3. Must have good computer skills.
4. Must have good verbal and written communication skills.
5. Experience of at least one year in a medical setting is preferred.
6. Duties require intermittent walking, sitting, standing, pulling, bending, stooping and reaching to perform tasks and be able to lift objects that may weigh as much as 50 lbs
