Natural Resource Technicians work as part of our seasonal field crew to implement conservation practices on the ground. Our field crews predominately focus on re-vegetation of riparian areas throughout Latah County. Individuals should have an interest in riparian restoration work and be willing to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions. Knowledge of native plants and experience on field crews is useful, but not necessary. Willingness to work hard and get along with others is required. Hours are 6:30am to 4:30pm, Monday through Thursday. Transportation to and from Moscow to work sites in Latah county is during working hours in Latah SWCD vehicles.
Responsibilities include:
- Provide field and office support to the implementation of best management practices (BMPs).
- Work as part of a crew of 3 to 10 individuals.
- Plant a variety of native trees, shrubs, and herbaceous plants.
- Apply seed mixes and mulch.
- Harvest and process native seed.
- Weed invasive plants.
- Irrigate plants.
- Build fences.
- Survival checks of past planting sites.
- Operate gasoline engine powered earth augers, brush trimmers, water pumps, and a variety of hand tools.
- Operate District 4-wheel-drive trucks, and ATVs, and pull trailers in off-road locations.
- Keep equipment and vehicles clean.
- Lift 50 lb. bags, work on steep slopes, and walk long distances.
- Work in a variety of weather conditions.
- Provide water, erosion, vegetation, and photo point monitoring assistance to District staff.

Pay: $16.50 - $18.50 per hour
