Job Summary:
As a Medical Billing Specialist, you’ll be a vital part of our healthcare team, ensuring seamless financial operations. Your expertise in medical coding, claims submission, and payment processing will directly impact patient care by maintaining accurate revenue cycles.
Responsibilities
Coding and Documentation: Skillfully assign CPT, ICD-10 codes based on medical records, ensuring compliance with industry standards. Chiropractic and PT experience a PLUS!
- Claims Management: Prepare, review, and submit insurance claims, advocating for timely reimbursement.
- Denials Management: Investigate claim denials, appeal when necessary, and minimize revenue loss.
- Payment Tracking: Monitor payments from patients, insurance companies, attorneys and other payers. Accurately post payments, address discrepancies.
- Reconciliation: Match payments received with outstanding balances and enter into Medent.
- Documentation: Maintain organized records for appropriate follow-up with insurance companies, patients and attorneys.
- Create charts and enter demographics – ensure verification of coverage complete
- Patient Interaction: Answer phones, make appointments, take payments, assist front desk.
- Accounts Receivable: Analyze open claims and follow-up/appeal as necessary
Qualifications:
- Familiarity with medical billing software and accounting principles.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients and insurance representatives.
Qualifications:
- Certification: Certification as a Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Medical Biller preferred, 5 + years of experience considered.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in billing software, EHR systems, and Microsoft Office.
- Attention to Detail: Precision is crucial to prevent costly errors.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written skills for patient interactions. Bilingual a PLUS!
