The Registered Nurse Shift Manager plays a vital role in overseeing nursing operations during assigned shifts. This position is responsible for ensuring high-quality patient care, managing nursing staff, and coordinating with other healthcare professionals. The RN Shift Manager ensures that all nursing activities align with the health center's standards, policies, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate all nursing activities during assigned shifts.
- Ensure adequate staffing levels by preparing and adjusting nurse schedules.
- Provide leadership, support, and guidance to nursing staff, including RNs, LPNs, and CNAs.
- Oversee the delivery of patient care, ensuring adherence to established protocols and best practices.
- Conduct patient assessments, develop and implement care plans, and evaluate patient outcomes.
- Address patient and family concerns, providing education and support as needed.
- Mentor and coach nursing staff, fostering a supportive and collaborative work environment.
- Conduct performance evaluations and participate in the hiring and training of new staff.
- Identify and address staff development needs through ongoing education and training.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with all health center policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of best practices.
- Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of patient care and shift activities.
- Serve as a liaison between nursing staff, patients, families, and other healthcare providers.
- Facilitate effective communication and collaboration within the interdisciplinary team.
- Attend and contribute to staff meetings, case conferences, and other relevant meetings.
- Respond promptly to emergencies and provide direction and support to the nursing team.
- Ensure that all staff are trained in emergency procedures and that equipment is readily available and functional.
Requirements:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN preferred).
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of NY.
- Minimum of 3 years of nursing experience, with at least 1 year in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Experience in a community health or outpatient setting is highly desirable.
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent leadership and management abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Please note- The annual base salary starts at $85k - $100k. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things.
