Lifeguards - HS Dip & Certification Req’d
***Nassau County Certification for Lifeguard, American Heart Association Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, and Emergency Cardiac Care REQUIRED***
Full Time: Mon – Fri, 8:30am-3:30pm
Salary: $21/hr
Brookville Center for Children’s Services provides comprehensive services for children 3-21 years of age with intellectual and developmental disabilities, traumatic brain injury and autism. Approved by NYSED, DOH and OCFS, our mission is to educate and support children of all abilities.
In this role, you will:
- Support all pool recreational activities through the supervision of the pool aides.
- Supervise all aquatic and recreational activities at the pool. He/she will be on duty whenever students, staff and/or other persons are in the pool area.
- Oversee all swimming activities, adaptive aquatics and implement (through the pool aides) other activities designed to enhance students’ physical and recreational development to maximize the students’ ability to function in the water.
- Ensure that pool safety and appropriate pool behaviors (pool rules) are maintained (i.e. condition and placement of life-saving equipment). Reports any defects to the Assistant Director and Program Supervisor.
- Report any incidents, injuries, seizures and any changes in the student’s physical condition to the Program Nurse and/or Program Supervisor or Assistant Director immediately. Complete Incident reports and maintain log of all pool incidents.
- Maintain all essential program records including recording chlorine and pH levels as required, as required on the appropriate Health Department forms.
- Ensure that work-related safety procedures are in place and are being adhered to by staff.
- Attend staff and other meetings, as required by administration.

We require:
- Nassau County Certification for Lifeguard, American Heart Association Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, and Emergency Cardiac Care
- HS Diploma or Equivalent
- At least 18 years of age
- Waterfront safety and First Aid
- Proficient swimming skills!
- Prior experience working with students with disabilities preferred
- Physical Aspects may include but are not limited to lifting and transferring of an adult/student.
