Overview: The CI Lead is responsible for overseeing the performance of various improvement projects while supporting the overall process of the Daily Management System established in the site. This role will also be responsible for overseeing the accurate documentation of established training programs, policies, and procedures within SunTree Snack Foods while fostering a culture of innovation and efficiency and implementing best practices to enhance operational effectiveness. The CI Lead Hand will report directly into the Plant Manager with indirect reporting into the Production Supervisors.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
· General Operation
- Monitor several production lines performance documenting all incidents of downtime.
- Ongoing auditing of the Standard Work (SW) and Leader Standard Work (LSW) procedures for operators, Production Lead Hands, and Supervisors.
- Detailed analysis of documentation and identification of downtime time logs and hourly white boards.
- Overall process and time review of cleaning and change over process between WO’s.
- Ongoing coaching and assessment of DMS processes and tools following through on SW, LSW, and visual management tools with all roles in the organization.
o Weekly generation of a summary report for the focused performance improvement line and top downtimes within the week.
o Participate and/or lead weekly meetings with Supervisors, Lead Hands, Maintenance, Warehouse, and Operators on specific performance improvement line to build understandings on how to create positive results.
o Multitask and support upwards of 5+ performance improvement lines at one time with the focus of driving increased efficiency results through supporting the DMS process.
o Continuous observations and focus on all aspects of the Plant, with the goal to relentlessly minimize and eliminate all forms of waste.
o Lead and facilitate continuous improvement projects from initiation to completion.
o Provide guidance and support to project teams, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
o Coordinate project timelines, resources, and deliverables to achieve desired outcomes.
o Monitor progress, identify barriers, and implement corrective actions as needed to keep projects on track
· Training
o Assist in managing, designing, developing, and coordinating all training programs but is not the subject matter expert for executing the training.
o Maintain updated curriculum database and training records matrix.
o Partner with internal stakeholders and liaise with experts regarding instructional design and tools available.
o Host train-the-trainer sessions for internal subject matter experts
o Research and recommend new training methods.
o Assess instructional effectiveness and determine the impact of training on employee skills and KPIs.
o Provide training and support to employees on continuous improvement methodologies and tools.
· Health & Safety
o Set an example for all employees by working in a safe manner, abiding all H & S policies and procedures, and using proper PPE.
o Provide orientation and training to all new and/or transferring employees in reference to the specific hazards of the job, controls, and protection.
o Correct any unsafe conditions immediately and/or stop work and arrange necessary service or maintenance.
o Report and investigate all incidents/accidents resulting in injury, property damage and/or near misses.
o Assess work group functions and develop training processes to improve operational efficiencies.
o Follow HACCP procedures. Complete all forms and records as set out by HACCP-TROPHY Foods Inc. and SunTree Snack Foods.
Experience, Qualifications, and Educational Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Engineering, Operations Management, or related field.
· A minimum of 3years’ experience in multifaceted production environment dealing with high-speed machinery and a multicultural work staff environment.
· Advanced working knowledge of the production management systems, Outlook, Work and Excel. Must have the ability to generate detailed reports in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
· Previous experience within a manufacturing continuous improvement role preferred.
· Proven ability to complete full training cycle (assess needs, plan, develop, coordinate, monitor and evaluate) is preferred.
· Any Lean Manufacturing/Six Sigma training preferred.
· Bi-Lingual is preferred (English and Spanish)

Physical Effort:
· Regularly walks through the Plant and office areas.
· May be required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
· Extended periods of time often exceeding 3-4 hours without sitting.
· This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, throughout the shift.
Work Environment:
· Regularly exposed to allergens such as peanuts, tree nuts, sulphites, soya, dairy, egg, gluten and sesame.
· Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions including slippery floors.
· Facility may incur extreme temperature variation depending on area as incurred in the food manufacturing and packaging process.
· May be exposed to equipment and processing mediums exceeding several hundred degrees Fahrenheit and noise levels exceeding 85 decibels.
· There is regular exposure to factors which carry an extreme risk of accident or illness which cannot be eliminated from the job.
· Requires wearing company uniform, with company provided hairnet/beard net/ safety cap, ear plugs, safety glasses etc.
· Overtime as required.
Sensory Attention:
· Frequent need to give concentrated attention, with one or two senses used in co-ordination.
· Employees are regularly required to talk and hear, close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
· Ability to apply common sense to problems involving mathematical skills such as adding, subtracting, multiplication, dividing and written oral instructions.
Mental Stress:
· Work and environment are not repetitious/unchanging.
· There is noticeable pressure from deadlines, production quotas, accuracy or similar demands.
