POSITION SUMMARY:
A reputable physical therapy clinic in River Oaks is seeking an experienced medical billing specialist to join a dynamic team. The candidate must be familiar with A/R, A/P, basic bookkeeping and verifying benefits. The candidate must also have a strong knowledge of interpretating EOBs, corrected claims, appeals, charge entry, use of modifiers, payment posting and collections. The candidate will be required to follow-up on claims and denials, and must be familiar with Medicare, and commercial insurances’ procedures. Experience with WebPT, Therabill, and is a big plus. The Candidate may also be required to schedule patient appointments on occasion, and must have a positive and proactive attitude, as well as being professional, courteous, self-motivated with strong critical thinking skills.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Research Explanation of Benefits (EOB's) to resolve Account Receivables issues.
* Processes appeals online or via paper submission
* Coordinate and clarify with providers, when necessary, information that seems incomplete or is lacing for proper account/claim adjudication.
* Coordinate with Front Desk staff the collections of current or past due patient balances, co-pays, deductibles, etc.
* Routinely work insurance and patient collections.
* Manage account balances to discover outstanding debts or other inconsistencies.
* Assists clinics with prior authorizations per the appointment scheduler, when needed.
* Perform other duties assigned by management.
* Enter payments and bills into Sage accounting software.
* Have experience in MS Office with intermediate Excel skills.
* Serve as backup for the front desk staff when necessary.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Billing Specialist must be able to sit for extended periods of time. the candidate may occasionally have to bend, stretch, or stoop. Manual dexterity sufficient to use a keyboard is required. Normal range of vision and hearing is needed for the accurate completions of tasks.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Working environment is friendly and supportive, with the primary work being conducted in air-conditioned office space. The Billing Specialist position requires the candidate to work positively with other members of staff, patients, and third parities to fulfill his or her duties.
